Paypal experience?

Hope someone can help calm me down, here. I'm part-owner of a very small business. We just recently got our website up, but it's been a bit of a dry spell. So we were thrilled to get an order. I went online to one of our usual suppliers and placed an order, paying for it with Paypal. AFTER the order went through the supplier gave the usual 'thanks for your order' screen, then added that they are closed for vacation until the 28th and would ship our order at that time. That won't work, seeing as how I'm supposed to deliver the finished product on the 28th. I contacted paypal and they indicate that only the vendor can cancel the payment.

So, I'll spend the weekend trying to collect early from a couple of people we did small jobs for, in order to go elsewhere to get the supplies I need in order to complete this new order (which we really need!). Has anyone had this kind of experience, and how did you handle it? And no, we won't be going back to the skanky original supplier.

1. How did you pay?

Was it a credit card using PP or was it PP tied into your checking acct?

2. PP tied to checking account.

4. Call your bank and also dispute the charges

State that you ordered the product expecting rapid delivery, but you found out that he's closed until the 28th, and that is unacceptable for you.

The bank will reverse the charges - it'll take 2-3 business days though.

11. It wasn't a credit card payment

It's not easy getting a refund once you send money from your checking acct.

8. The person you sent it to has to initiate the refund.

3. Here.. you can dispute the payment saying that you are not getting your product on time.

There's the Resolution Center...

That'll force the supplier to lose his payment until he resolves it quickly. Paypal will hold the money, not the supplier. Neither money are yours or his until the resolution is over. Then you will get paid when there's an agreement to release the money back to you.

Then you can order from another supplier and get the matter resolved.

10. Ain't gonna work

If you file a dispute, the seller has a time frame to respond to the dispute. He has 10 days.

Don't trust the cross-eyed Iowa primitive with any numbers that appear on a plastic card or run along the bottom of a check, though; remember what the cross-eyed Iowa primitive is.

6. You could also try contacting the supplier about shipping sooner.

Try to dig up a cell number or the person's name and try looking up a home number -- there should be SOME way to get in contact with them before the 28th. E-mail, call their main number and leave a voicemail, etc.

They probably don't want to lose your order either, and might rise to the occasion, especially if you've been a customer previously.

Worth a shot. :/

7. Yeah, I already left voicemail and sent email.

They're not responding to anything until the 31st. Cruddy way to do business, yeah? And, yes, last year we did a lot of business with them.

How small does a business have to be to need the money from Customer A to get the supplies to make the product for Customer B?

It appears to me they spent the gross--not the net, but the gross--from their last sale on drugs.  The business appears to be in sex-toys.

How small of an order does it have to be for the purchaser not to bother getting on the telephone and calling the supplier to ensure they even have stock of the item and get an approximate delivery time/ wait time ?

As a side note - While they're bitching that some small business owner is taking some time off - aren't these people the ones that are bleating and pleading for a Euro-style 6 week paid vacation period each year ? Simultaneously wanting smaller and smaller "cooperative" style businesses ?  How does that work out for you eh DUmmies ?

Whatever power the use of "****" and "****ing" has is lost on me.  It has no meaning or direction.  I cannot imagine why anyone would go out of their way to actually include such a sign of obvious empty intellect when communicating with written words.

I would like to see "****" and "****ing" replaced with "stem" and "stemming".  It would at least be entertaining.

"You sloth-like stemming stem!"

Don't Euros take the month of August off anyway

So does Quebec.  I once had a cell phone made by a company there, I had a tech question for them one time in late July, and found out they were closed until the end of August.  I wouldn't be surprised to find out this idiot's supplier is in Canada.

Since I am known never to use profanity it is especially powerful when I do.  If I say "****" or "****ing" in the course of a verbal outburst, it gets the same reaction as gun fire in a cafeteria.  People gasp, freeze, drop whatever they are holding, and head for the floor.

That is what it was like the first time my co-workers heard me swear....at my last two jobs....even though it's not uncommon for me to say those words outside of work.  :lmao:

We had a Catholic Chaplain on the ship that would drop the F-bomb occasionally. It cracked him up to see the reaction.

Not only does much of Quebec take august off (not everyone, there are still some people left with a work ethic), it is also legally mandated that there must be at least one "national" (aka provincial) holiday every month, which is of course paid.
