Bush Predicts GOP Will Hold White House
BEN FELLER | February 25, 2008 11:09 PM EST |
WASHINGTON — President Bush predicted Monday that voters will replace him with a Republican president who will "keep up the fight" in Iraq. "I'm confident we'll hold the White House in 2008," Bush told donors at the Republican Governors Association annual dinner, which raised a record $10.6 million for GOP gubernatorial candidates.
"And I don't want the next Republican president to be lonely," Bush said. "And that is why we got to take the House, retake the Senate, and make sure our states are governed by Republican governors."
The pep talk came in the midst of a presidential campaign that largely has overshadowed Bush's final year in office. Bush has promised to be an active fundraiser, and he had no trouble slipping into enthusiastic campaign mode Monday evening.
He said Republicans still offer the bedrock positions that voters embrace: strong defense, low taxes and personal freedoms.

1. Those stalwart 19% pro-Bush bloodlusters are hot for McCain, yessirree.
Bush never did make much sense and he makes even less now.

2. What a load of horseshit.
As usual.
Yeah, the Republicans are going to be swept into the White House again AND they'll retake the Congress AND they'll control all of the states' governorships. Mr "29% approval ratings" says it's so, so it MUST be.
Never mind the fact that the Democrats are raising MUCH more money this year than the Republicans. That voter turnout in the Democratic primaries is significantly up this year from 2004.
Man, he's just hitting the booze all the time now, eh?

chance he is correct. Some Pundits say 50/50 chance.

4. strong defense, low taxes and personal freedoms
Yeah, right! He's 0 for 3 on that. He's ruined the military, the only low taxes are for his rich buddies and what personal freedoms is he blithering about. He seems to get more delusional every day. I have a dream for him too-it involves an orange jumpsuit, leg shackles and an appearance at The Hague.

11. Low taxes for the rich . . . meanwhile . . . .
There's that whole 9 trillion dollar debt thanks to those tax cuts for the rich, corporate welfare and last but not least, his failed invasions of choice.
Personal freedoms . . . PFFFFFFFFFFFFFT. Those went away after the largest terrorist attack in American history happened on HIS WATCH (another point that can't be driven home enough).
My friend who went to Iraq twice didn't re-up and ended his reserve stint in August. He gave them the finger and I'm sure many other servicepeople are going to follow suit. This once-proud institution suffers from low morale and are looked at as a mindless, corporate-cowpoke mercenary faction rather than defenders of a nation. And it's all thanks to this presidunce.

5. Only way he'd be confident is if the election devises are programmed again
like they were for his elections...
And if the suppress continues...
And of course if the Supremes step in and appoint another Republican.
Bush= the first two-term pResident of the United States who was NEVER fairly elected!

8. "It's over, Johnny. IT'S OVER!!!"
The only way your terminally ****ed limp-weiner party is taking anything would be to Diebold it. And since we're going to be watching this election like a hawk, that won't be happening.
Also . . . well, your nominee is grumpy Cotton Hill-come-to-life fossil McClown. I mean, who other than the lobotomized 28 percenters are going to vote for this joker? Your own party can't even get behind him. He does nothing but make people laugh. He wants to continue your wars and offshore our jobs. And he's still dragging out the tired Reagan redux "socialized medicine" chestnut. Yeah, THAT'S a platform 'Murka can get behind (snicker).

29 Rethuglicans are RETIRING from Congress, NO Rethug Senator running will have an easy time this year, GOP coffers are empty, and America is slowly waking up to the realization that either the first Black man or a woman will be the choice to oust these ****ing criminals from power.
They have Gramps.

13. What the hell did you EXPECT him to say?
No politician will get up at a fundraiser for his own party and say "we're screwn. We totally ****ed the economy. We pissed off the whole world. We wasted four thousand of our finest young Americans in a war I can't even tell you why I started. I'm a corrupt, illiterate ****wit and I want you to vote straight Democratic tickets in the next election so they can fix everything we broke...then, in fifteen or twenty years when the voters have forgotten all about me because I turned myself in and they locked me so far up they've got to pipe air in, the Democrats will have erased all the shit I pulled and maybe a Republican can get elected dogcatcher or something."
Every politician will do what Shrub did. Doesn't mean it's true, or that the voters will fall for it.

19. He's right, you know
His successor doesn't take over until 2009, and Congress doesn't seem too interested in removing this whole corrupt administration through a richly deserved impeachment, trial, conviction and removal from office. So, yes, technically, the Republicans should easily hold onto the White House throughout 2008.
I would, however, advise Cindy McCain to put away her tape measure, as there will be no need for her to be considering new drapes at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
Nothing but a bunch of dumbass spilled everywhere

You should really read more than HuffPo and Rawstory to get your news:
US military meets recruiting goals
Washington (AFP) Nov 13, 2007
The US military met its monthly recruiting goals for October, a Pentagon spokesman said Tuesday, calling it "good news" for a force that has been strained by wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The Army recruited 4,564 soldiers into its active force in October, about one percent over its target; and the Marine Corps signed up 2,788 for its active force, about two percent over target.
The recruiting figures of the army and the marine corps are closely watched indicators of the health of the US ground forces, which are carrying the bulk of the burden of wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

As for me...regardless of who is in office...my next re-enlisment is for Indef...as in "Indefinate".
See what the DUmmies fail to realize is that for the majority of us...its about MORE than who is in office at the time.

I happened to catch the last 15 minutes of a documentary on cable. It was about the people who worked on the 2004 campaign. I can't tell you more than that since I didn't see the whole thing. But what I saw was hysterical. The Kerrybots were enraged when the numbers started coming in. The main guy they were following around was sitting in a bar drinking beer and in tears. He was SCREAMING at Wolf Blitzer on the TV and telling them to all "**** off".
It was delicious. I can't wait for a repeat.

The President is quite right. It will be the Republican in a landslide.
Hillary Clinton cannot win. The nation has seen too much of her and we know her all too well. Her unfavorable rating is right up there with OJ Simpson's. On top of that, she is a woman.
B. Hussein Obama is an empty suit flashing in a pan. He has muslim ties. He is a Marxist. He is more liberal than Code Pink. On top of that, his skin is black. Currently, Obama is the Pet Rock of politics.
The President is quite right.

Oh my.
The primitives seem to be forgetting about an October surprise, too.

Obama scares me. I know a lot of people--people who should know better--who are thinking of voting for the guy because he makes them "feel good." :thatsright:
One person actually compared his campaign to Reagan's--the whole "morning in America" deal. :mental:
I worry that rationality and logic can't beat charisma. :banghead:

Worry not! Orgies do not last long. Soon the morning light uncloaks the careless passion's shame. People begin to sober up. They start to gather their clothes. They want out of there as quickly as possible. They won't look each other in the eye. They promise to keep in touch, but they all know it's a lie. No one wants to speak. It's over.

So do I. But, having said that, Frank Luntz was telling FNC about a week ago that, although voters love Obama's style, when it comes down to it, they know that all he's got are, "words, just words," and he found that these same voters know McCain will keep the country safe(r) from those that want to kill us, no matter what our individual ideological stances are.

19%...where are they getting that? I must be behind the times because last time I checked he was double congress and that would put them in the single digits.
