Title: Swedish meatballs
Post by: SilverOrchid on August 20, 2009, 11:22:44 PM
The mister and I are going to a church pot luck in about a week. I want to make Swedish meatballs in a crock pot. I could go on line and choose from millions of recipes but I wanted to use one from a tried recipe that kicks ass! Anyone got any recipes for the crock pot, i would love to hear them, thanks!

Not ignoring you SO, but I have never made Swedish meatballs.  Are they very different to other meatballs?

Iv'e made this one, and it's pretty good. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/swedish-meatballs-recipe/index.html

I don't know about doing it in a crockpot, but you could look up some Lutheran reciepes also, like this one (they love their pot lucks!):

I know it's too late, but maybe next time.  My wife has made this several times and it's good.

constantly until thickened. Reduce heat to low and cook

5 minutes. Stir in sout cream, a little at a time,

stirring until thoroughtly blended after each addition.

Return meatballs to sauce; cover pan and simmer gently

5 minutes. Serve with hot buttered noodles. Makes

about 6 dozen meatballs.
