Attention DU'ers in the Omaha area and surrounding communities - Sen. Ben Nelson town hall today

As Congress debates health care reform, Sen. Ben Nelson today is holding a public meeting on the subject.

Nelson, D-Neb., says the session will run from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Durham Research Center Auditorium on the University of Nebraska Medical Center campus.

Watch it live on Omaha.com

If you are a Nebraska voter, or you live anywhere near here, I don't have to explain the dynamics of a Democratic senator trying to keep his job in a state that has not cast it's vote for a Democratic president since 1964.

We MUST remind Senator Nelson that while he may believe he needs to carry a certain percentage of his Republican constituency to keep his job - he absolutely, positively WILL lose his job without the support of Nebraska Democrats. We must remind him that Nebraska did send one of it's electoral votes to President Barack Obama and the country voted for Barack Obama in part on the promise that meaningful healthcare reform would include a viable public option.

Senator Nelson also has plans for healthcare town halls in Kearney and North Platte. Dates and details of those meetings have not yet been released. I will be attending the Kearney town hall, and perhaps the one in North Platte as well.

Bring signs, bring cameras, bring your passion.

The cross-eyed Iowa primitive, the primitive who's always threatening to shut down web-sites, and who always fails:

2. See here though, he would assume those were coming from rigt-wing asshats

So while it would be personally satisfying, it would convey the opposite message intended.

As a neighbor to Nebraska, I follow Nelson pretty closely, and so far he's the wrong end of the spectrum. He would be much more comfortable being a Republican than pretending he's a Democrat. I don't understand why people keep putting him back if he is not behaving like a true Democrat. From the beginning, he has been opposed to pretty much everything that is key to the health of America.

-Health Care reform
-ending the Iraq war
-Patriot Act
-Stimulus (I believe he voted no)

I understand that Nebraska may be more Republican in terms of the spectrum, but these people needs to be wholly informed and the media control of the local news needs to be balanced, not slanted to the right. Therefore, Nelson is getting away with it, lining his pocket with lobbyist money and ignoring his constituents. I don't believe that he really truly understands what America really wants, not what *he* wants.

Therefore, I am pledging another $100 to anyone who can primary him out and win the election by being a populist or progressive Democrat.

Yeah, yeah.

Keep dreaming.  Yes, Iowa has Harkin, but I sure can't see the fine state of Nebraska electing a leftist loon to the U.S. Senate.

Although a Democrat, Senator Nelson is just doing his job, just as the famous George Norris (R-Nebraska) did nearly a century ago, reminding the Establishment that Nebraska exists, that Nebraska counts, and that it's a good idea to pay attention to Nebraska.

These idiots think all DemonRats are supposed to act like them. I'm sure there are enough older moonbats over there old enough to remember when Democrats were nearly as conservative as Repubs.

The problem, to the DUmb****s, is that Senator Nelson actually listens to his constituents, not to those idiots.

The other thing the primitives don't understand is that the senior senator has credentials as a Democrat more solid and substantial than those credentials the primitives possess.

Ben Nelson is as Democrat as franksolich is Republican.

And that's saying a lot.

Good for Nelson.  My two freaks of Senators, Boxer and Feinstein, will not hold any meetings. They know what's best for us.

Good luck getting anyone liberal to win in Nebraska after what Bob Kerry did during his years in office. Acting Conservative in state and in voting liberal in D.C.

You got that right. Regardless of his position on socialized medicine, he is a democrat and an enemy of freedom.

When push comes to shove, he will always vote with the other socialists in his party, same as the other blue dog socialists.
