A motorist sits precariously on the Maple-Oregon Bridge in Sturgeon Bay after getting stuck on the bridge as it opened Thursday. The motorist safely went on her way after the bridge was lowered. Police are hoping she’ll call to explain how she managed to get stuck in that position.

Wow. And having not slid to death, how quickly would you drive out of there to avoid the embarrassment? :lmao:

Quite quickly, according to the article! :rotf:
On a related note, it was a woman driver, from the very same state as one of our infamous posters... :uhsure:

Again, another car-related article that doesn't mention the make/model of the car. Damn lazy ass reporters.
Looks like a Mercedes. (http://www.google.com/search?q=mercedes+w124)

It's incredible that it didn't slide down at that angle! :o

Like some of the roads in San Francisco, trying to hold anything just with a clutch can cause body tremors. It is when one has the go ahead and the nose of the car is so high one cannot see what they are driving into that gets me.
One heck of a good emergency break there.

Mheh -
I drop the truck into low 4 - first gear and ride the handbrake down.
That thing ain't really any steeper than stuff I've driven down (and up) before.

I've yet to try driving in San Francisco with a manual car. Repeatedly stopping and going on steep inclines does not sound like a good, or relaxing time. I make my friends drive, I'll drive to Santa Cruz :cheersmate:

Why the hell did she just stop when the bridge started going up? Those things move slowly, she had to make a choice to just stop there like an idiot.

Bill Cosby had a great bit on this...

I think of that every time I'm stuck on the upside of a hill waiting for the light to turn green. :lmao:
"Go around, idiot! Go around!"

If I recall correctly, and I do, because you are OLD...
It was "Come around asshole, Come around"

I was thinking the same thing...she at least could have gotten closer to the bottom so if she couldn't hold the brake anymore she didn't have far to go :lmao: My guess is she froze until it was too late to do anything but pop the parking brake. :lmao:

"Apparently the bridge tender noticed, lowered the bridge and after a short conversation she goes on her way."
Methinks the bridge tender wasn't paying attention or the bridge would never have gotten that high. He should be looking for a new job about now.

Maybe they were to busy texting to notice

Good point. Hell, once she started to feel it going up, why didn't she put it in reverse?

She was facing downhill....if she had put her car in reverse...she would have ended up in the water.
Photographs of a car precariously perched in a downward position were circulating via e-mail Friday while authorities tried to find the woman who was driving the car.
I wonder why she just didn't floor the accelerator, unless she just froze....would have scared the heck out of me!!!! :o :o :o
Bet the bridge operator is looking for a new job.....perhaps he should try the local amusement park for roller coaster tender.
