Title: Russia Finds Missing Merchant Ship Near Cape Verde Islands
Post by: thundley4 on August 13, 2009, 09:10:58 AM

"MOSCOW (Reuters) - Pirates probably hijacked a merchant ship which disappeared after sailing through the English Channel last month, its operator said on Wednesday.

The Kremlin has ordered Russian warships to join the hunt for the 4,000-tonne, 98-meter bulk carrier Arctic Sea, whose mysterious fate has baffled national maritime authorities across Europe and North Africa.

The Maltese-registered vessel, carrying a cargo of timber worth $1.3 million, was supposed to have docked on August 4 in the Algerian port of Bejaia.

It never arrived, raising fears of a rare case of piracy in northern European seas." Reuters (http://www.reuters.com/article/worldNews/idUSTRE57C17T20090813)

This could be worrisome if it involved pirates in such a widely traveled area. I more think that the crew is involved, but if there is going to a ransom claim, then why the wait?

If I read the report I received earlier today correctly, the ship radioed they were under attack at some point [ AOL ]     THEN navigated the English Chanel and went to sea to become missing ?

This makes no sense to me, why not have a plane or someone one, the English or French keep tabs on the freighter after the first call ??

They said the crew was Russian so that must include all Officers aboard, Who controlls Malta today, just a big rock with big problems, and lots of Monkeys that tourists love to throw food at.

Unless the Port bound ship had a country in Africa, Algeria, that suddenly became interested in building Finnish Saunas, why ship expensive wood to that part of the world ?

I am just as confused as the people looking into this.

But then who am I to judge, I still think the Scorpion went down in the Black Sea or the Med. and never got as far as the Azores---pictures can be doctored.

So I wonder if this ship will become a modern day Marie Celeste and some dark night I will see it steaming off the coast of the north east.

The ship first reported that they had been boarded off the coast of Sweden. Then they reported that the pirates had left the ship. Then disappeared.

Sweden has a large population of Muslims.......so I'm saying Muslim pirates.

....and they have probably F***ed with the wrong ones now.... :-) I hope the Russians do to them what DUmmies don't have the guts to do...torture.

Sweden has a large Muslim population---Gasp-Gasp--Who would of thunk it.

Next thing we know will be Muslims moving into China and south east Asia

So to my mind this religion is a total man thing, the men get all the goodies and the woman become nothing more then Cattle, breeders to support the lust of  men.

Not much is said about what woman get in heaven, men get lots of sex with virgins  and get to play war games.

Woman are lucky if when they die  their family can even find their grave. They are not important enough to get a grave marker in most cases.

Read the Koran where does it give females any kind of respect or honor, any kind of mention except as a favorite Wife, then lord knows what will be done to her.

This is a real time problem for woman world wide, not the little stuff of job employment, or voting rights.

This is a question of slavery today all over the world where a husband- Master can decide if you live or die.

Crazy, I asked a young man born in Kenya if he would consider marrying a woman who had been circumcised, could not feel pleasure from him.  He said absolutely NO he married an American woman for the pleasure they brought each other.----But he also told me his family thought he was crazy and his sisters had been circumcised and lived a dreaded life.

BY THE PRICKING OF MY THUMBS, SOMETHING WICKERD THIS WAY COMES.

The woman who are born into this with  few exceptions find they are cared for and have few complaints.  This is how their mothers, and grandmothers and beyond lived .

In some community's the woman will fight to the death to keep their tradition alive. They have excepted their place in society slightly above the milk cow and know nothing else.

They come to a western country and still keep to the old ways, to embrace other ways is a death sentence.

Can't convert them into other ways their own sons will kill them.

What to do, darn if I know, France has a good plan, perhaps they know how to control the life style of their country.

I say heads up for the French who see people arriving every day that wish to over through their government and push out the native people---the Catholic Church.

Now don't give me no crap about the Catholic Church in Europe, we Americans know that America was founded on Christian ideals, and it seems like we are allowing that to go down the tube to allow Anti-christians to take us over.

Rant ended--to this point---never know what news will make me more angry.

Just a little hint. After typing in a few lines, stop and think about what you are going to say next.  Then DON"T.  :hammer:

The Russians are having bad luck with their ships ever since they gave up on Communisim. I won't be surprised if Putin has plans to get that ship back and he's not going to be nice about it.

A couple of dumbasses on this thread have to be contenders.

You mean 8.

Far as I can tell that's a record.

Come on I am ignored by 4, but in the long run with the number of people posting that ain't bad, heck I have more people in my own family that ignore me then that.

That is of course...unless the "disappearence" was a planned thing.  I wouldn't put it past the Russians to supply those entities out there that are trying to kill us.

Well, okay, eight. It was only seven the last time I checked.

Could someone please research this question, and post their findings? What IS the record for most ignores?

Honestly, I don't think there is much love lost between Islam and Russia, and personally, I don't see them cooperating against the US at this time.  Mind you, I'm no expert on international affairs.

Personally, I think JohnnyReb might be on the right track wondering about Muslims in Sweden.

Thought is beginning to emerge that something much more complex than mere piracy is afoot here, and I tend to agree.  Whetehr Russian mob, large-scale business fraud, or some black ops going on, there is a lot more to this story than a highjacked shipload of Finnish timber.

I would be more concerned about a terrorist act if it were an oil tanker or a tanker carrying natural gas or something similar.  There was some book about terrorists hi-jacking a tanker carrying natural gas and ramming it into New York City.

The ship was apparently in for some unspecified rework that was not routine maintenance two weeks before leaving for Finland, there is speculation that there is something more than timber on board, probably under the bulk cargo.  Drugs?  CBRN weapons?  Twinkies?  Who knows?

Talk about a misleading headline. They are still unsure of where it is.  It "may" have been spotted.
Quote
Missing ship 'found' off Africa
A missing merchant ship with 15 Russian crew members on board has been spotted off the coast of West Africa, unconfirmed reports say.
The Arctic Sea had last been sighted in the Bay of Biscay on 30 July.
Reports citing coastguards suggested it had been seen some 400 nautical miles north of the Cape Verde islands.
However amid continuing uncertainty, the Russian envoy in Cape Verde said he had contacted the military there and the sighting had not been confirmed.
Russian navy ships have been searching for the 4,000-tonne Maltese-flagged vessel, which had been carrying timber

The ship was eventually cut up for scrap. Nothing happened, it was not docked where the incident supposedly happened. Just like the Montauk  fantasy, which I can guarantee you is utterly false, having spent considerable time inside the Montauk AFB HUNTING Deer with a couple of AF Officers in the day.

What is the difference between a battery and a woman?
A battery has a positive side.

Why haven't any women ever gone to the moon?
It doesn't need cleaning yet.

1953 or so I was a kid (7 or 8 years old). I remember sitting under a tree watching my father build a pond for a man. The man's son sat down beside me and I was in hog heaven. The son had just returned from Korea, he was a jet fighter pilot. I asked a million questions about airplanes I'm sure then we got around to other stuff. We were dicussing space travel and such. I remember him saying, "Yeah, when the first man gets to the moon and steps out to look around, the first thing he'll probably see is a pile of beer cans. He'll find somebody has already been there."

I laugh everytime I remember that.
