PORTSMOUTH — Today's visit by President Barack Obama will affect traffic, impact neighborhoods, slow commuters and busy public safety and public works employees, said Police Chief David "Lou" Ferland.

"But Portsmouth's lucky to have the president coming to town," he said. "I think it's a distinct honor."

Anticipation was running high Monday among those who had tickets to the event in Portsmouth High School's Stone Gymnasium, scheduled as a town hall-style forum where Obama will discuss his plans for the nation's health care system. Obama is expected to land today at 12:25 p.m. at Portsmouth International Airport at Pease and arrive at the high school around 1 p.m.

And for those with even more time on their hands, check out the LTE's in today's Portsmouth Herald here:

(The P_town LTE's may not all be as funny as stuff from the Dump but it has to be a close second and will provide minutes of diversion for the shut-ins.)

Enjoy.  Current weather conditioins indicate it will be hot and steamy at PHS when teh Wun speaks.

Why mercy no, and I am shocked, shocked, to think anyone would even suggest such a thing.    Here in P_town we have a ready made audience of lefty loons to fill any hall.  Perish the thought, bring in ringers, outside agitators, who would do such a thing. :-)  (Maybe those crazy folk at the DNC??) :uhsure:

Instant weather update:  Fearless beagle ( my constant companion, great weather predictor ) just dove under the knee hole of my desk as I was preparing to post.  The oppressive humidity which had remained over night was just broken by a fast moving thunder shower.  Regular gully washer it was. Still, the Wun will have his work cut out for him, last time I was in that auditorium it had poor ( at best ) ventilation (no air).

As the Seacoast breathlessly awaits the arrival of teh Wun, I dashed off to run some quick errands. In the process I have been able to determine state and local police have the coffee shops well covered. Must be part of some local stimulus plan. :-)

Sadly, no.  The Seabrook Commissars have determined I am not ideologically pure enough to gaze upon the bright visage of Teh Wun and have dictated that I purge my body and soul of impure thoughts by a few repetitive tasks completed ad nauseam in the gulags.

IOW, no, I had to work--someone has to pay for all this shit.  He's probably flying in now, speaks at 1, and is out of Pease by 3:30, meaning traffic on 95 is gonna be all sorts of jacked up with security.  Time to take the 125 route home...all 45 mph of it.

"Single-payer would bring stable, simple health care"

That was the header for one of the LTTE......my take on that is....

"You get sick, you die, no cost....it's really that simple."

How dare you work rather than stand in the presence of the Obamessiah?  Oh yeah, somebody has to pay the bills.  Went by the back of Pease where the unlucky Obamarites are lining the fence waiting for ScareFarce Wun to cast its shadow on them.   :hyper:  Ah, they may thus be healed!!
