Okay, that was the third time she used the word.
Savannah Guthrie.
Talking about Obama's remarks a little while ago.
She brings it back to the white house being cautious in describing the good news in the job numbers and the modest drop in unemployment.
The offending word?
Pick it out in this sentence that she has uttered now three times:
"The President/White House are announcing this but not dancing a jig."
Maybe its just me. But the word was totally jarring when she uttered it the first time, minutes after Obama'a remarks. In light of the fomenting of racism going on in the country, use of this word seems egregious. Once was not a problem. Twice was unfortunate. Three times is a pattern.

DUmmy husb2sparkly, squatting uncomfortably over the litter box, has a finely tuned sense of outrage.

2. WTF? Seeing things that aren't there.

16. Also shorthand slang for "Jiggaboo".
Another derogatory racist word.
I have heard black people referred to as 'jigs' many a time by white people.
Yes, it is an offensive, deliberate dog whistle.
Actually, DUmmy Ikonoklast, I believe that in polite company, it is spelled with only one "g".

38. I have never heard jig used as short for jiggaboo...
And I live around a bunch of redneck shitheads.
A jig is an Irish dance, and was not used by this lady in a sentence that could be construed as a slur.
DUmmy ingacnumbers is another of the DUmp's ESL students.

17. Yep. That's exactly what I thought of when I read the OP--
the absurd outrage expressed over the innocent use of "niggardly."
That's nothing compared to the snarling rage they flew into when someone accused the jug-eared Kenyan of reneging on a promise.

25. Those who make a career out of being offended
don't get the privilege of taking any word they like as part of the outrage repertoire.
"Dancing a jig" is a very old and very widely used expression and everyone with more than 2 firing synapses knows it's a reference to joy or lack of joy.
It's no wonder nothing ever gets fixed.
I hope DUmmy sailornumbers enjoys his short stay at the DUmp.

Oh Lord. They will use anything for their 'outrage'.

I have never heard the word jigaboo and I did not know jig was racist. dear me.
-
Just goes to show, that when people WANT to be offended, they can always find something to fit the bill. It amazes me how they can take such innocent phrases and twist them all to hell and back to they can claim offense.

OK, I was raised in the south so I've heard the term jiggaboo.....but it has been many years ago. At the rate DUmmies are handicapping white folks language it won't be long before Micheal Moore comes out with his newest movie......"White Men Can't Talk".
-
Oh Hell.
The only context in which I've really thought of "jig" has always been in the sense of the Irish doing a dance.
-
Well, being a welder for many years the first thing that comes to mind when someone says 'jig' to me is a device used to hold parts in place until you can get them welded or at the least tacked together.
I have heard black folks referred to as jigs but that isn't the first thing that comes to mind and it certainly doesn't fit the sentence it was used in above.
Good Lord those people are complete idiots. I would imagine some of those with a little common sense over there are completely embarrassed about some of the shit that gets posted.

Remember how the DUmmies wanted to "Frog March" Bush and Cheney from the WhiteHouse????? Couldn't you concider "Frog" a racist term for "French"?
So what's wrong with making Obama dance a "jig" when he's arrested for high crimes and marched outta the WhiteHouse?
Hey, if you're gonna be accused, might as well be guilty. :-)

The only context in which I've really thought of "jig" has always been in the sense of the Irish doing a dance.
In the movie The Last Boyscout, Bruce Willis declares "If I live through this, I swear to Christ, I'm dancin' a jig." He does, and he does

I am born and raised in Texas. Lots of rednecks in my family. I have never heard the term.

FGL must be somewhat younger than I. I grew up with the term, "jiggaboo", amongst other racially charged euphemisms.

I am 37. Yes, there were racists in my family and I guess they were too stupid to know the word.

Hmmmm, the first thing that comes to my mind is fishing.
-
I have never heard jig used in reference to anything other than a dance, a fishing lure, a type of saw, or a cutting pattern. Its like the false outrage over the French word picnic - normal people think about outdoor lunches, race baiters think its a southern expression that short for 'Pick-a-N......' , where a black person is chosen to be beaten mercilessly after lunch.
In both cases its overreaching to apply the label 'racist' to something liberals don't like. ( In the case of Picnic, it was to stop college Republicans from having one for its members, which worked. They then advertised the event as an 'outing' which got the gay/lesbian alliance involved in stopping the event, which also worked )

Same here.
I suspect that Stinky is doing a lot of projecting here. Maybe the "racial" misuse of that word is so clear to him because he actually uses it in that context?

Wouldn't surprise me. For all the projection of racism they do, the biggest racists in this country's history have always had a (D) following their name.

Yea, the liberals are the ones that know all the racist words. They know words that never enter the minds of normal people or are never connected to race in the minds of normal people. Who are the racists again?

You gotta be kidding. I've heard of the J-word :lmao: but picnic? When and where did that happen? That's got to be one of the dumbest things ever, only surpassed by the republicans who cancelled their "outing". Do they also go into convulsive fits when Yogi the Bear comes on?
-

One has to remember too that the sparkling husband primitive is a southern Democrat, being from Maryland and its corrupt machine politics. While decent and civilized people let go of the past and moved forward, those who remained Democrat down there never did.
I'm sure the sparkling husband primitive in real life uses the "n" word more, and treats brown people, in real life, more roughly than any traditional southerner.
-
Projection--something the DUmmies have raised to an art form.
-
Back in the days when Jesse Jackson tried to run for president, my (conservative) mom acquired a black cat (best cat in the world BTW.) She named him Jesse, tongue in cheek. Some people gasped and thought it was racist. ::)
