CIA director issues a warning to Congress
In an extraordinary column published Sunday in the Washington Post, the director of the CIA, Leon Panetta, issued a blunt warning to the US Congress to forego any investigation of the agency’s operations under the Bush administration.
“I’ve become increasingly concerned that the focus on the past, especially in Congress, threatens to distract the CIA from its crucial core missions: intelligence collection, analysis and covert action,†Panetta writes.
In other words, accounting for the crimes of the past must not be allowed to interfere with the crimes of the present and the future...

1. There's something very, very awful that went on, I think.
Something that no amount of "mea culpa-ing" or finger pointing can explain away.
I am guessing it has potential to really cause us trouble.
Panetta is not a Machiavellian jerk. He's also not a bully.
The Mad Dem makes no sense.

26. More like maybe we betrayed Israel somehow in our middle east dealings
Think about that one for a minute. Or how about if we sold out a NATO ally or two somehow.
Those are things 0Bama has/is doing, so you don't want to go there.

9. Or what, Leon?
That sounds a lot like a threat.
Are you going to turn your black ops loose on Congress if they don't heed you?
That's treason, Leon.
No, but Leon may want to keep a rogue agent from uncovering too much about 0Bama's past. The truth about that might just blow everything else from the news. :fuelfire:

Sounds to me like the DDI and DDO heard from the rank and file at Langely...who told them they'd start handing in resignations if Congress Critters started trying to investigate their cloak and dagger activities.
In short no one at the CIA wanted to go through another Church Comission.
And it sounds like the DCI is listening.

Thundley, when you post that the DUmmies are being pissed on, that may not be necessarily a bad thing to them. :-)

You'd think they'd get tired of being completely blown off and laughed at. But apparently not.
