LAWRENCEVILLE - Gwinnett police found what they believed to be a make-shift strip club in the basement garage of a Lawrenceville home.

The homeowner, Constance Trahan, was arrested and charged with keeping and maintaining a disorderly house, according to a report filed July 18 by Gwinnett police.

The officer who answered the call to the home at 1437 Purcell Road said he observed what appeared to be a strip club in the basement, although Trahan was not charged with running such an operation.

The officer said also he observed a sign that said "1 Dollar Jello Shots." He said he took a photograph of the sign and other evidence he thought implicated Trahan.

Unbelievable. There's an actual LAW that says keeping a "disorderly house" is a freakin' crime?

WTF?

Does that mean if I let my laundry hamper overflow onto the floor and leave my pot of dried-out oatmeal on the stove for 3 weeks that I can be freakin' arrested?

The bit about the underage drinking and marijuana possession, etc., I can understand. But disorderly house?

 :rotf:  :thatsright:

Gawd, this is why we have politicians? To come up with bullshit laws like this?

 :banghead:

Shouldn't you be doing some laundry about now?  :-) Seriously this is a disorderly house ...
Quote
A place where individuals reside or which they frequent for purposes that pose a threat to public health, morals, convenience, or safety, and that may create a public nuisance. A disorderly house is an all-inclusive term that may be used to describe such places as a house of prostitution, an illegal gambling casino, or a site where drugs are constantly bought and sold. It is any place where unlawful practices are habitually carried on by the public.

Various offenses concerning disorderly houses exist at common law and under criminal statutes. The maintenance of a disorderly house is considered to be an ongoing offense and, at times, the offense involves a specific type of place, such as a bordello or gaming house. The offenses are divided into four classes, which encompass keeping or maintaining a disorderly house, letting a house to be used as a disorderly house, frequenting or abiding permanently in a disorderly house, and disguising a disorderly house by displaying a sign of an honest occupation — such as disguising a house of prostitution as a dress shop. ...

Yeah, they are probably local laws made up by people like my chicken shit neighbor who sent an anonymous letter because he didn't like that our garage was used as storage(it's not regularly left open either) or that we had mulch stacked neatly on the side of the house under a tarp for a future project(nothing ghastly...about 10 bags of mulch..not stacked one on top of each other in one huge pile). You get some nitpicky poophead like that guy in a local office and you get laws like this. He thinks I don't know which one sent it, but it's not hard to deduce when you figure he's the only neighbor who doesn't say hi or won't look you in theeye when you walk by.  :-)
