Obama Ignores Torture

by Helen Thomas

Secrecy is endemic in all governments. It goes with the turf, especially if their leaders hope to hide illegal or immoral behavior, such as torture of foreign prisoners.

..........................

William Rivers Pitt, a best-selling author who wrote "The Greatest Sedition is Silence," recently raised the emotional question of whether U.S. adoption of torture has debased the international standards for treatment of prisoners and that our enemies may now feel that they can torture Americans. Pitt specifically expressed concern about Army Pvt. Bowe Bergdahl, who was captured by the Taliban in Afghanistan last month.

American military leaders had warned President Bush over and over that U.S. torture of prisoners could boomerang against our troops. But he would not listen.

Obama has blocked publication of pictures of the harsh treatment of prisoners from our two ongoing wars -- in Iraq and Afghanistan -- but the word still gets around.

I'll bet the Bostonian Drunkard's head swelled to the size of the western hemisphere with this mention.

But not to worry; something somewhere will prick the balloon.

It would be hard not to laugh uncontrollably at the Pollyanna-like thinking in that line, if the reality were not so dire.

Like our esteemed colleague JohnnyReb said earlier in the week, that the Moslems have tortured people for centuries.  Did they stop it for a couple of minutes some time last month, and JohnnyReb was sleeping through it, missing it?

I love WORDS, and how they tell different stories simply by their arrangement.

WTF??? I mean seriously...WTF!!!

When did our enemies STOP torturing Americans they captured?

Bataan...a literal hell on earth.  The Japanese ships filled to the brim with captured GI's who were forced into manual labor in the home islands.

How about the special brand of torture given to GI's in Vietnam?

Ask the female Blackhawk pilot what the Iraqi Army did to her when she was captured. Oh wait...18 years later and she STILL refuses to talk about it.

Somalia?  Ask Chief Durant or the family of the dead soldier drug through the streets how our enemies treat us.  Or for that matter the Pakistani soldiers who found one of their officers dead...stripped of his uniform with his cut off Johnson shoved down his throat.  He died protecting a Paki Ambulance full of wounded that the Somalis were firing at...despite a big red cross painted on the side.

Ask any soldier serving in Iraq now how long it takes to get to a brother soldier that's been killed because the insurgents booby trap the bodies.

This  :censored: moral equivalence bullsh*t the Liberals in this country use to try and scold the military on how they operate is disgusting.  War is not pretty...and it can't be faught by PC rules...the very nature of war is anything BUT politically correct.

And sometimes things have to be done that aren't pretty..but are darn sure effective.  And they save soldiers lives.

The Libs are more concerned about our appearance to every third world Hugo Chavez than they are the safety and well being of people like me in uniform.

Helen Thomas AND that Chowd Will Pitt can both suck a nut.

DUmmy Pitt's weighty tomes sit in their vanity-publisher-provided cartons, just as do DUmmy Mythsaje's appalling efforts. The only difference is that DUmmy Pitt's wealthy mother could afford to subscribe to a large number of copies, whereas DUmmy Mythsaje, whose life has peaked financially on the receiving dock of a Target store in the Great Pacific Northwest, could afford only the publisher's required minimum investment. But, by making the DUmp "Greatest" page, DUmmy Mythsaje may find thousands of eager buyers, to say nothing of all the people here who have been intrigued by the snatches of his prose I've inserted into threads.

I think you have to have a lot more respect for DUmmy Mythsaje. With no visible means of financial support beyond his menial day labor at Target, he cranks out one goofily weird tale after another, not one of which is noticed or remarked upon by a single human being other than himself. He's severely handicapped by his sub-par intelligence, but at least has ambition. DUmmy Pitt, on the other hand, is, in his middle age, a drunken wastrel totally dependent on the fortunate circumstances of his family. Having been given the opportunity for an exceptional education, he has held only one paying job in his life, that of a part-time substitute teacher. He was fired from that and nearly imprisoned for diddling a tweener, and has since worked only at developing his alcoholism. He is as worthy of reference by Helen Thomas as any of her other sources.
