"MOSCOW – An interview U.S. Vice President Joe Biden gave to an American newspaper was front-page news Monday in Moscow, where his characterization of Russia as a weakened nation hit a raw nerve.
Biden said Russia's economic difficulties are likely to make the Kremlin more willing to cooperate with the United States on a range of national security issues.
"I think we vastly underestimate the hand that we hold," he said in an interview to The Wall Street Journal published Saturday.
Biden's comments appeared to catch the Kremlin by surprise, coming less than three weeks after President Barack Obama said on a visit to Moscow that the U.S. wants to see a "strong, peaceful and prosperous Russia."

Showing Obama the door would neuter the rest of the administration, which works for me. What would be awful is if Obama left because of illness or death. Then the rest of the administration would be emboldened to push all of his polices through in his memory, and the RINOs would play along.

There would be a certain entertainment value in having Biden as President, as long as we were well into economic recovery and there were no immediate threats of nuclear war at stake.

I guess when the next election cycle comes along we will know before hand what mess we have had with this administration and hopefully be smarter as a nation to believe a inexperienced man could "change" our nation.

Disclaimer 2: While having no navy experience, I'd be surprised if Russia didn't always have subs patrolling the international waters of the Atlantic. So I feel this is partially a sensational article.

I don't think it is that common anymore to patrol off the coasts. Satellites can provide better intel than a sub off the coast. We haven't heard about anything like this in years.

I'm sure their surveillance satellites work as well as their subs. Except there is nobody on the satellites to nursemaid them and fix the broken shit.
The sub patrols are Russia's attempt to re-assert itself as a world player, there really isn't anything we can do to stop it so there isn't any point in getting wound up about it.

Russia accuses US of rearming Georgia
MOSCOW — Russia on Wednesday accused the United States of quietly rearming Georgia a year after Russian forces crushed the ex-Soviet state's US-backed military and warned it would respond accordingly.
"Delivery of weapons from the United States is continuing," Deputy Foreign Minister Grigori Karasin told journalists at a briefing ahead of the first anniversary of the 2008 Russia-Georgia war.
"This is worrisome and will force us to take corresponding measures," Karasin said. He did not elaborate on what types of weapons were involved or on how Russia would respond.
His comments however marked one of Moscow's most pointed accusations that the United States, which recently reaffirmed a strategic commitment to Georgia, was stoking tensions in the volatile Caucasus region.
On a visit to Tbilisi on July 23, US Vice President Joe Biden admitted that Washington, which equipped and trained Georgian forces prior to the war last August, was working on "maintaining" the Georgian military.

Aw, hell. I hadn't heard about Biden's retarded remarks before today, but I had heard about the subs. Now I know why the subs were there. Thanks, Biden. :bird:
