SILVERTON, Ore. - Silverton's openly-transgender mayor is under fire for his choice of attire at a recent speaking engagement with a group of students.
Silverton Together, a nonprofit group that supports families and their well-being, filed a formal complaint regarding Mayor Stu Rasmussen's choice of clothing.
Ken Hector, president of Silverton Together, said the mayor violated the city's dress code when he spoke to a group of leadership students wearing only a bathing suit top, a miniskirt and high heels. Hector added three parents complained to him directly about the mayor's appearance.
"This was a business meeting pure and simple and it was not something on his free time," Hector said
But Rasmussen sees the complaint as much ado about nothing.
"Why are we even having this discussion? I'm an adult. I'll wear what I please," he said.
The city council will decide how to handle the complaint. The mayor could get a warning or be told not to represent the city at public events. He could even be kicked out of office, although that option is said to be unlikely.
Rasmussen argues the city dress code does not apply to him since he is transgender.

First, where was the damn spork alert?
Second, because he's transgender, the dress code doesn't apply? WTF? Ok, maybe the city couldn't force you to wear a suit due to your "status" as a transgender, but how about a little respect for the other people at this event? A decent business like outfit? This is where bending over backwards to "accomodate" minority groups (which I don't believe the LGBT community should be considered anyway) ends up, with them deciding societal norms are "beneath" them. Further evidence is just about any gay pride parade.

I thought the big ol' spork in the painting would be clue enough. :-)

Where was the pic of the mayor who posed on the fire engine--wasn't that in Oregon as well?
ETA: Found it. Yes, was Arlington, Oregon.
No spork alert needed:

And there you have it, folks, the philosophy of the juvenile left:

Apparently, we don't temper our behavior, dress, demeanor to suit our circumstances or to show respect for the engagement and people we are with. :loser:

Has this topic been mentioned at the DUmp?

They're probably waiting for the mayor to get on and post it himself.

Fundie bastard tried to stifle my freedom of expression today....
So, there I was minding my own business, doing my job, when this jack-booted rethug fundie gets all up in my face, and called me a "slut whore", saying I was going to "burn in hell", because I'm transgendered...

I retract my earlier complaint about lack of spork... The page didn't load properly (stupid work firewalls)

Why do we get all the weird mayors? Moonbats in Ashland and Eugene. The Portland mayor is embroiled in a controversy because he was getting down and dirty with a teenage boy. You'd think as "progressive" as Portland is being an openly gay mayor doing a 17-18 year old would be no big deal.

That went out the window when men started wearing ball caps into restaurants, and stopped wearing ties to church.

FINALLY the answer to a great mystery in life I have questioned for years.
Why do so many serial killers come out of that part of the country. Also answers why all the big time killers listen to country and western music.

Really? Mao, Stalin and Pol Pot listened to country music? Gang bangers, who probably kill more than most serial killers listen to country music?
