The White House announced late Friday afternoon â€“ on its Twitter page â€“ that President Obama will hold a primetime news conference on Wednesday, July 22nd at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

"You heard it here first: Primetime presidential news conference at the White House, Wed. 7/22 @ 9PM EDT," the White House said, prompting an immediate flurry of retweets.
