Title: 6% of Americans still believe moon shots were faked
Post by: LC EFA on July 16, 2009, 06:29:53 PM
Threads like this encourage some of the less sane members of DU to crawl outta the woodwork...

Vocal Minority Insists It Was All Smoke and Mirrors

By JOHN SCHWARTZ
Published: July 13, 2009

...

They examine photos from the missions for signs of studio fakery, and claim to be able to tell that the American flag was waving in what was supposed to be the vacuum of space. They overstate the health risks of traveling through the radiation belts that girdle our planet; they understate the technological prowess of the American space program; and they cry murder behind every death in the program, linking them to an overall conspiracy.

And while there is no credible evidence to support such views, and the sheer unlikelihood of being able to pull off such an immense plot and keep it secret for four decades staggers the imagination, the deniers continue to amass accusations to this day. They are bolstered by films like a documentary shown on Fox television in 2001 and “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Moon” by Bart Sibrel, a filmmaker in Nashville.

3. There are at least that many nutballs who think the WTC was blown down with explosives.

God love the screwballs, they're good for a laugh.

This is the primitive equivalent of banging the spoon on the side of a dogfood dish after adding food.

Okay, just checking!

(Edit: Fix typo.)

Standard DUmmie Argument 2A : When your intellectual faculties are called into question - Accuse your opponent of being a FReeper.

114. Keep at the insults . . .. it should convince those who are quesitoning moon landing -- !!!

Unfortunately, the right-wing conspiracies are being questioned -- all of them.

Obviously, JFK was at concerned about what Werner Von Braun -- former NAZI -- was

doing at NASA. Back then he wanted to use nuclear fuel, for one --

JFK was adamantly against it.

And, who the hell are we to question NASA or Nazis?

It seems they have another shuttle problem now -- how many down already?

If you don't already know D&P here - Check out the 9/11 Forum over at the DU for some A Grade Insanity.

These nutballs do not believe the moon landings or the terrorist attacks happened.
But they wholeheartedly believe the United States Congress can alter the climate of Earth.

The moon landings were indeed faked......why would we send a good American on such a dangerous mission....or risked an innocent monkey.....we would have sent a DUmmie.

I'm surprised that no one has invoked the movie "Capricorn One" as proof that we could fake the moon landing.

The fact that they even have a "dungeon" for silly crap like that should tell folks what a bunch of lunatics there are at the DUmp.

FReepers think the landing was faked ? Uhhh. No.

Im sure there may be a few Survivalist Luddites who think that (who aren't FReepers for obvious reasons) , but Id say the majority of moon troofers are libs. Just as the 9/11 and JFK Conspiracy troofers are.

I actually know a moon landing troofer.  He once told me we wouldn't be able to get a coherent signal all the way from the moon using late '60s technology.  I told him that was news to me because as a satellite communications guy, I knew that the moon had been used to transmit a speech by President Eisenhower to from DC to California in the '50s.  He dropped that as a line of argument, after he verified I was right.

I'm surprised the number isn't higher.  51% voted for the Rookie, and 95% think that the millenium started Jan 1, 2000 instead of a year later.
Not exactly the sharpest hammers on the trees.

Definitely not the brightest lights in the drawers.

I bet there is a larger percentage of DUmmies that thinks pro wrestling (or "rasslin'", as we say in the South) is real than the moon landings being fake....
