Getting a book published??
Anyone out there know how to get a book published??? Where to start? I figured I'd ask here first.
I have thought about it for 30+ yrs. My mom always pushed me to do it, she is gone now.
I have always told my co-workers I would be writing one, I just never could come up with the subject, or how to start. I had a lightbulb moment today, never happened before and I'm ready.
I've been typing like mad the words are just flowing, took a little break to reorganize my thoughts.
:whatever:

Use the method employed by the DUmp's pre-eminent author, William Rivers Pitt.
Get Mom to write a check.

So they've managed to knock together a Table of Contents, and are already looking for a publisher ?
Talk about counting chickens before they hatch.

I suspet the twinkle toes primitive has a long ways to go.
franksolich as been writing a long time now, and hasn't ever been published.
The twinkle toes primitive has a long road to hike, if he's just got started.
Years, decades, generations.

My mother - a retired Catholic school Principal, has been shopping a children's book series for years. This primitive better be willing to work HARD for publication, or be willing to fork over some cash to self-publish.
-
It helps to have something that a normal human being - you know, one of those people who have MONEY to spend on books - would be interested in reading.
me thinks Tinkerbell - being a primitive - will have an extensive collection of rejection slips from publishers; assuming it makes it that far, that is.

That is a point often overlooked. DUmmy Mythsaje's vanity-published pamphlets about mystical quests against dragons and demons are a case in point. DUmmy Mythsaje, without DUmmy Pitt's rich mother to foot the bill, lives a life of destitution and desperation, surrounded by cartons stacked upon cartons of unread (and virtually unreadable) self-published dreck. Still waiting for sales to explode as a by-product of making the DUmp's "greatest" page.

Let's think about that one a tad. They're worried about a computer hack. Who would hack the NYPD computers?

Thats silly. Computers are only 'hackable' when they are online. Once that possibility is eliminated, they are pretty much secure.

Yep, but even a secured shielded network has the potential for incidental access. It's not a well known case, but Philadelphia's subway transit network was actually connected to the internet through a comcast wireless IP. The guy that found the problem went home and accessed the network from his computer, before he reported it to the sytem. The Comcast wireless network had picked up the signal, liked it and assigned an address.

I heard it was because some forms are not computer compatible , but that makes no sense. There are programs available that allow even scanned forms to be editable.

Guess they never heard of Adobe Acrobat.

You don't understand. This is New York City.
Someone's brother-in-law is sitting on a warehouse full of old Royals.

Team Obumbler's new reforms for healthcare involve billions in typewriters.

GOBUCKS and jukin, I'm not sure which of those two responses I like more.
They're both pretty effin' good.

Sure - Skin's island is filled with hundreds of monkeys to man the typewriters, as are a lot of the other primitive hangouts, so its a sensible investment.
(And to any lurking DUmmies - this isn't racist. If you look at your own photo gallery you'll see that your community is almost 100% white, and as you liberals say 'its not possible to be racist against whites.' )
