Quote
WASHINGTON – Contrary to White House wishes, Attorney General Eric Holder may push forward with a criminal investigation into the Bush administration's harsh interrogation practices used on suspected terrorists.

Holder is considering whether to appoint a prosecutor and will make a final decision within the next few weeks, a Justice Department official told The Associated Press. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak on a pending matter.

A move to appoint a criminal prosecutor is certain to stir partisan bickering that could create a distraction to President Barack Obama's efforts to push ambitious health care and energy reform.

Obama has repeatedly expressed reluctance to having a probe into alleged Bush-era abuses and resisted an effort by congressional Democrats to establish a "truth commission," saying the nation should be "looking forward and not backwards."....

Here we go and maybe also sheds some light on Panetta throwing the CIA rank and file under the bus the last few days.

If he starts this crap I hope some Republican Senator (s) have the spine to scream to the hilltops about him letting the black panthers off the hook for voter intimidation. :censored:

"Contrary to White House wishes"?  OK, 0bama needs to tug this guy's leash.  Holder seems to have forgotten who works for whom...

If this goes forward, get ready for a terror attack before 2010.  What intel guy is going to risk prison to save the people who would put him there?

What has this country become? We're now worried about the feelings of terrorists that would have no qualms cutting our heads off! In-****ing-credible!

The AG does nothing without white house approval.
This is just Lord O's way of removing himself from the fallout.

I think the O admin is beginning to feel mortal. With the drops in their polls and the FBI reports on the Tea Parties...they feel they don't have much time. So its now all important to push cap n trade, health care nationalization, and the criminalization of the former admin. Its priority time at the white house.

Agree on all points.  And, there's something else:  Everything, including politics, works in cycles.  What does that mean?  A future Republican administration in, say, 2013 could investigate certain Obama administration officials in their roles in the economic downturn.

What goes around, comes around.

Yawn.

Sorry Obama - but people are starting to catch on to 'Blame Bush' - It seems every time things get tough, somehow attention is diverted to the former administration. I think you and your czars need to work on fixing things now that your 6 months in.

That's opening a can of worms right there. Any former President can be prosecuted for this. Bad idea.

Actually, I believe that the messiah has come out against this, as well as a "Special Prosecutor" to get into the Cheney deal......I believe that with all of his obvious weaknesses, that he is smart enough to realize that if he establishes the precedent that prior administrations can be held legally liable for events and decisions during their terms, that he may end up "walking the plank" himself at some point in the future........

I certainly hope he is smart enough to realize this! Although, with some of his recent decisions and speeches, I have to wonder. I think he's tryin' to push Jimmah Cartliage from the worst ever position!
