it's been a bit stressful at times, but i think planning my wedding has been good for me
it's forced me to be both decisive and assertive, neither of which have ever been strong qualities of mine.
my fiance has absolutely no opinion on anything (which can be infuriating, but that's another story), so all the final decision are falling on me and i think i'm doing pretty well for someone who can't even decide on dinner most nights.
i'm also the type of person who would rather defer than hurt someone's feelings, but i've had to say 'no' flat out a few times during the process. like telling my dad, who is footing probably 98 percent of the bill, no on a few aspects of the event. or telling my bridesmaids that i don't want a bridal shower. we're talking about three of the four or five people to whom i'd say yes in almost any situation.
plus, i've only had one wedding-related meltdown since i've begun the planning, so there's another upside

Don't be too sure; I've gone through that bonfire with a fine-toothed comb, and I don't see any indication that the bride is actually a femme, and the groom a guy.

I don't know why I keep making assumptions.... I'm learning though

I don't care if they're a couple of martians or a couple of collies. Anybody who can't make a decision, or doesn't have a *******ed opinion is insufferable and would be no friend of mine. Best of luck running your life, dingbats.

There is no point in the groom having an opinion, it will only turn into an argument if he does and is so rash and naive as to express it.

That's funny--when my wife and I were planning our wedding, I had some definite opinions about the music to be played, where we'd go on our honeymoon, and even the colors for the wedding. She had no objections. (Maybe it was my wild-eyed look, or the spittle flying from my mouth as I voiced those opinions, that won her over. ;) )

You weren't marrying a DU poster, were you?
:hammer:

No--a moderate that I've been able to pull a tad closer to the conservative side. :p  It's an ongoing process.

I got married in Reno. The families were just too much of a pain in the ass! 'Specially my Mother and "Toots'" Mom! Really pissed everyone off! I enjoyed the shit out of it! heh, heh!
