Title: Powell airs doubts on Obama agenda
Post by: thundley4 on July 03, 2009, 07:38:51 PM
Quote
Colin Powell, one of President Obama's most prominent Republican supporters, expressed concern Friday that the president's ambitious blitz of costly initiatives may be enlarging the size of government and the federal debt too much.

"I'm concerned at the number of programs that are being presented, the bills associated with these programs and the additional government that will be needed to execute them," Mr. Powell said in an excerpt of an interview with CNN's John King, released by the network Friday morning.

With all due respect General Powell, now is not the time to be questioning the programs "on the table".  Much of what Lord Zero is doing is what he campaigned on.  You and others who were so blinded by the color of his skin, that you were blinded by his rhetoric and could not see what his intentions were.

So Colin Powell has buyer's remorse.  Boo ****in' hoo.

It's a little late to be complaining about that now after he cheered him all the way to the White House.

He just said a couple of months ago that the GOP is in trouble because, "Americans are looking for more government in their lives, not less. Americans do want to pay taxes for services.”

What a buffoon.

I hope the opportunistic weasel isn't trying to do this to rehab himself into some kind of GOP kingmaker.

I don't see it happening.  He hasn't been relevant since the Gulf War, even if he was Secretary of State.  Just my two cents... I don't know who this guy's fan club is.

I wouldn't think so. He makes a pile of money on the speaking circuit and Alma would kick his ass up between his shoulder blades if he even hinted of some kind of move.

Alma has been very, very clear about her husband's further service to the country:  ENOUGH!

That's were 'Kingmaker' comes in, vice 'Candidate.'

I understood your "Kingmaker" well enough, DAT. I picture Powell avoiding any kind of move anywhere on the national stage (including the GOP stage as some sort of self-appointed "Kingmaker") since it's a lot easier to pick and choose your speaking gigs without all the 24/7 attention.

Alma will be obeyed.

Who would trust Powell at this point?

When he should have been backing the conservative camp....he defected to the Obama bandwagon and openly criticized the GOP repeatedly.

Now he doesn't like what Obama is doing. Wasn't he listening during Obama's campaign?

Go sit in a corner and shit in your hat, CP....I respect your service for this country.....but I no longer care about your opinion.

Funny, the "pundits" figured he was trying to repair his damaged image from the Bush Admin. when he endorsed Obama.
How's that workin' out for you, General?

It's not like Barry H O never talked about this in speeches.

I guess the good general never listened to any of those speeches and his endorsement was merely skin-deep.

When the last 6 months of GOP beatdown, Colin?

I would love to ask him if this "I did't know what I was endorsing" schtick is a lifelong problem in his eyes or just recent because the lefties have always excoriated him for asking where the 4000 tons of declared VX ended-up.

Should we ever take you seriously again?

#$%^ing tool.

My guess is that he senses a backlash against O on the economic front and when the health care monstrosity is rolled out.

Not sure what he thinks he is positioning himself for though.

For a man that has been to the Army War College planning and foresight should be thoroughly ingrained characteristics of his demeanor. If he couldn't have seen the troubles he's complaining about from the same distance the rest of have then I don't think he's planning anything...

...I'm wondering if he hasn't wandered into his dottage.

How come nothing seems to hurt this numb-nut's reputation but Sarah Palin does something for the good of her state and she's toast?  Or she's an unstable broad?

It's time to just totally ignore this Quisling or we'll end up with someone like him in 2012, like Romney, always having his surrogates shop stories of the competition around.  Talk about being fooled by appearances.

With Republicans like these, we'll be in the wilderness a long, long time.

Apparently Powell isn't the only one:

If mama's not happy, nobody's happy, true enough.  Not that I care whether that weasel's happy or not at this point, after deciding race counted more than anything else...there IS no possible Republican candidate that could have been closer to Powell's RINO beliefs than McCain and he sold him out for Big Zero.

Indeed. I remember the big hoopla when CP was being courted to join the Bush II team. His comment was, IIRC, "I'm a fiscal conservative with a social conscience."

Warning bells went off in my head at that time, but it wasn't until later when his true colors came to light just how RINO he is. And then the coup de grâce - selling out the GOP for Lord Zero.   :loser:

Powell should do us all a favor and switch parties. He is a liberal that gives the Repub. party a bad name.

I wonder if Powell is really turning on 0 because after Powell supported him and came out with his insane statement that Americans wanted higher taxes there was no Washingtonian job offered to Powell?

I've seen something today about Powell saying that DADT should be ended. he supposedly said it on one of the Sunday talk shows yesterday.
