Yeah, we'll see. :coffee:

Maybe a lot of perspiration beads will be growing on the DUmmie's foreheads, but then primitives have protruding brows anyways.

Would Sarah Palin be dumb enough to officially announce a Presidential run...

...a full FORTY months before a presidential election?

Discuss.

Why not?   Didn't King 0 start his campaign at least 30 months out.    Worked for him.

 :usflag:

The DUmmies say she is so inconsequential, yet some of these dinks actually subscribe to her Twitter feed. We already know they spend a lot of time paying attention to every move she makes.

There is about a thousand threads speculating that there is a major scandal coming - And they say DUmmies don't pray.. They are on their knees hoping for the end of Sarah Palin's political career.

In the end, Sarah Palin is far smarter than they give her credit for. By making this move, she has pulled herself out of alot of future controversy

Her book deal
Traveling outside of Alaska and 'shirking her duties as Governor'
Wasting Alaskan taxpayer money on her travels unrelated to Alaskan needs.
The Alaskan Democrats who have stepped up criticism to the point of personal.

It's said in showbiz that you " always leave-em' wanting more "  - Sarah has just done that.

Can it backfire ? Hell yes. But Palin knows her future is safer outside the Governor's office than it is trapped inside it.

The Little Goons and their partners in the press are scared crapless.  As long as Sarah Palin was governor, they knew where she was and what she was doing.  Now they will have no idea.  It's a nightmare for them.

I feel a lot of this driven by those ethics "scandals".  $500,000 in personal money gone in 6 months.  Whats it going to look like in 2 years?

She now can fully devote herself to running for office, without letting the people who voted her into office down by not doing her job (like President I did 10% of the work I was paid to do).  All this legal bullshit pulled by these leftist nuts won't interfere with the running of the state, and with her no longer in office, I'm sure most of it won't even be capable of being brought to court.

Unfortunate for the state of Alaska, but probably best thing overall.

One primitive has considered something that I hadn't - that she may be looking at Michael Steele's position. Sadly, Steele has been less than effective, so its not a consideration without merit.

Who's Michael Steele?  j/k I doubt if many people know who he is, and it might help to have someone with name recognition as head of the GOP. However, I think Palin has too many enemies in the establishment.

Let's not start "tombstoning," or "Wellstoning," Steele just yet.  His first test will be the governors' races in Virginia and New Jersey this year--I don't know how the Virginia race is going, but the NJ race is looking bleak for Jon Corzine.  If that holds, NJ will be a heluva pickup.

At this point its all speculation. With the suddenness of this decision, and Palin's unwillingness to say she is done with politics, It stands to reason that she has a plan that none of us are privy to. Something that would come to fruition sooner than waiting for election season. Its way too early to run for President at this time.

But it's not too early to be doing fundraisers for Republican candidates who are running in 2010 (or 2009, as in the Virginia and NJ governors' races), and lining up favors from said candidates--to be called back in at a future date.

One of the best ways, historically, for one to accumulate political capital in one's own political party is by doing such fund-raisers.  If that's what she's planning on doing, it's an eminently wise move.

That is true, but did anyone ever quit halfway through their first term in a statewide office to do it?
I will be surprised if she can ever be a viable candidate again.
She is at risk of becoming the Danica Patrick of politics: a great money machine, but not a serious contendor.

She's also made the DUmp a boring place. A thousand Palin threads, and nothing else.

Danica Patrick is doing quite well in the Indycar series for your info:

After 8 races, she has 5 top 5 finishes, 7 top 10 finishes, and is currently 5th in points, 60 points behind first place driver Dario Franchitti.

I doubt it.

If she was Vice President would she have resigned the governorship?  Have the democrats turned her term into a circus?

Will Alaska survive?

They are so full of Little Goon brains.  This thing has them in a tizzy unlike anything since January 2005 when they were sure if they could only impeach ChimperMcWinner John Kerry would be installed as President.

There is another thread about how one of the Little Goons went around to rethug websites and the common thread is the rethugs are saying the Leftists are scared of Sarah Palin - with the idea the left is for some reason physically scared - ignoring the actual fact they are scared shitless of Sarah Palin for intellectual reasons.

Yes, you lurking little shitheads, Sarah Palin scares the crap out of YOU.  She threatens your fragile worldview that is built on lies and illusions.  That's the scary part FOR YOU.

You need one of those "sarcasm" thingies they use at the DUmp! Danica is in the Tony George Joke League. Most of the IRL cars don't have enough sponsorship to pay for their fuel. Only five or six have any chance to win. Now that Tony has been thrown out of the family business, it's hard to see how his league, or IMS for that matter, will survive. Danica has brought in big money with her bikini spreads and commercials, but even with the lion's share of the money and a pitiful league for competition, she's won only once and has not threatened to win a second.

I hope I'm wrong, and Sarah Palin does not become the Danica Patrick of politics, but I think she's fighting long odds after this move.

But, hey, a couple of years ago, who would have thought a muslim from Kenya could be elected president?

Sarah Palin will be fine.  Up until a year ago this month nobody knew who the heck she is.  I think you will find she is the Cher Bono of politics.  Before you dismiss that idea, remember Cher won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1988 for "Moonstruck".  This happened after Cher's career was pronouced Officially Dead.

.....a great money machine.....

The classic case, although there's other examples, was that of Richard Nixon circa 1965-1967, after the elections of 1964, in which Republicans got trounced.

Nixon had been in the political wilderness after his loss in the gubernatorial race in California in 1962, and retired to practice law in New York City.

But after the elections of 1964, he began going around, speaking and raising funds on behalf of any potential Republican candidate for office during the mid-term elections of 1966.  No candidate was too obscure, no office too lowly, for Nixon to allow himself to be used for attention and fund-raising.....just so the candidate had an (R) after the name.

He boosted conservative Republicans, moderate Republicans, liberal Republicans.

Anybody who asked him.

Historians generally credit Nixon for the Republican resurgence of 1966.

The Republican presidential nomination in 1968 was no sure thing, and in some ways a close run thing, but what put Nixon over the top were all of these senators, congressmen, governors, state legislators, county sheriffs, &c., &c., &c. whom he had helped, who returned the favor.

Nixon also lost the 1960 Presidential election to Kennedy (most likely due to favorable 'photogenic' TV coverage during the debates).  I forget what he was doing between 1960 and 1964.

I agree, too early for prez run.  That's interesting about the RNC chair.  Hadn't thought of that.  There are a lot of people with Steele buyers remorse.  Me, for one.

All the talking heads are being so negative and dismissive.  Even Rove, whose opinion I respect.  The fact of the matter is, she attracts crowds and tremendous energy.  She may be eyeing the very conservative cause itself.  I just don't know.  But, you're right, she can say anything she damn well wants to, now, and that may be a powerful weapon.  Let someone else be the glad-hander, while she's being the 'cuda.

Gots to go and make my sign for the teaparty.  One side will say:

...I too think Palin is done. I understand the MSM and lib brown shirts were merciless to her and especially her family but she's done.

She sure as hell ain't presidential material if she can't handle the shit handed to her already. A full on presidential run would be 10x worse.

I hate to say it but...

...I too think Palin is done.

I disagree.

Her lack of nuance may be her greatest asset, makes her appeal more to the avg citizen. I think there are many Americans who appreciate, among other things, her ability to speak from the heart and not have to rely on her teleprompter for the "pre-packaged, establishment approved bs."

She is one of the few political figures (along with R_Paul) who are really speaking up for our natural liberties and abilities. :usflag:

I agree.

Because of her lack of nuance, she appears more like the populace, not some Ivy League, over-educated snob.  The more the MSM and liberal "elites" attack her, the more the people will view the attacks as personal toward themselves.  This will backfire big time on the media and their handlers....

She sure as hell ain't presidential material if she can't handle the shit handed to her already. A full on presidential run would be 10x worse.

It disgusts me that she validated the tactics of the leftist nazis because she's the only reason I bothered voting last year.

So long little girl...next time we'll send a real woman to play with the big boys.

The lefts satanic hatred for her meant that she would be hounded daily with phony ethics accusations and lawsuits.

That goes away now and she concentrate on campaigning and developing a message.

WOW! I think she has probably damaged her prospects, but I would never mention her in the same breath with nutcase losers like Ron Paul and Ross Perot.

She is an intelligent patriot, not a deranged political clown.

Carl, I count you as a friend and ally so please don't over-interpret my comments but...

...that made no sense and seems tinged by aires of Denial.

If she raises the spectre of a future run for ANYTHING they will double down on her. They will claim she's just a bubble-headed Barbie who couldn't ahndle the stresses of public office and/or resigned to escape impeachment. The truth doesn't mean shit to these shitbags, they're stink will only get worse.

As I said in the "2012" thread in the political forum this is also a sad distraction at a time when we ned to focus on Obama's agenda but instead will be stuck with CNN, NBC, CBS, NYT et al telling us exactly what is wrong with the GOP.

I concur x1000.

I think she's heading for private life as the rumors now are she has told her staff they are free to assist other candidates in 2012. I think she has better prospects as kingmaker rather than running as queen and I think she will excel as a fund-raiser and commentator of who holds genuince conservative credentials.

I hope she returns to a very stress-free life of a private citizen whre she is happy, loved and a millionAmerican men wish they were Todd.

I wouldn't count her out permanently. She said in the speech that she will be campaigning for and supporting conservative candidates, so I would expect to see more of her in the coming Congressional cycle than we have seen so far. She is also practically a child as politics goes. She has a good thirty year window ahead of her to make a run for the White House or the Senate, and she can only get better with age.

Ain't that the truth. Aparently Lurkster doesn't know this site was birthed because of Paulsters.

Buchannan as far as I know has not caused the crap the R___paulers did at CU.

As far as your hero R___Paul goes, he has a few policies I agree with, but when we get to National Security, he's a frikkin' ZERO!!!!!!!!

The same cannot be said about Pat!

Sorry, didn't know R_Paul was a tender subject here.

I wouldn't say I'm a Ronbot, but I admire his views on American Liberty and Free Markets.

I'd never really noticed Paul until the recent (R) primaries. When he gave his opinion on Operation Iraqi Freedom I thought he was a little wacky. I dismissed him as a serious candidte  because I thought he was some kind of wierdo fringer before the end of the primaries and I wound up supporting "the old guy." The best thing I can say "the old guy" did for us was introduce us to SP, then it seemed he and his team did nothing but trip her up at every opportunity while she worked so hard to get him elected.

Now, the more I read RP's interviews and watch some of his speeches I'm starting to dig what he says about how we got to where we're at (economic and societal), and what might could be done to get us back to basics. He also seems to appeal to the young folks too.

As far as his views on NS, the way I understand his biggest beef is with the fact we have multiple combat ops going different places in the world with no declared war. I sometimes wonder myself about the morality of conducting military ops with "fuzzy" objectives and ever changing national opinion driven policy and expectations (not fair to our troops / not fair to innocent citizens in foreign country / and doesn't do much for our rep in the - okay I'm gonna say it -- the world community). You know, like how'd that whole "Vietnam thing" work out.

Maybe I'm being too simplistic, but if there's a reason for a war against a foreign state or axis, there should be a declaration of clearly defined articles, then, lets throw everything we need to at the ememy for a swift and punishing defeat, the plan should always be get in and out as quickly as possible, flatten their asses good, and if they're ever able to peel themselves up off the greasy stain, they'll remember not to f&ck with the US ever again. We still have troops in Bosnia, after all these years!  (peacekeeping mission). Sorry, but to me, a substansial and sustained military presence in a foreign land, especially after so many years, starts to taste a little like imperialism. (Sorry, but there I said it).

Don't get me wrong. I'm not Bush-bashing here by any means, because, back before 2003, everyone from Algore to Hillary and Bubba to J_Kerry was on the "Lets get 'im" bandwagon, regarding dickhead Saddam and his stupid WMD's, along with W (and me.)

Speaking of Bush-bashing...

I don't know what kind of crap the r_Paulers did at CU, but Patsy's book "Day of Reckoning" was pretty much a "Bush bash" from cover to cover. Just sayin'  :whistling: That being said, I've always usually strongly agreed with Pat's opinions (except early on about Iraq, but as of late, I'm starting to think he may have been right) and think his brand of conservatism is the purest. I think W is a good man and had good intentions during his presidency, but unfortunatly some of his policies set the stage, and enabled an anomoly like King Zero to hit the ground running upon his election. Hey, but I know hindsight being 20/20 doesn't do us any good now.

ps. - I don't know how much of a R_Paul thing this is, but I'm also not digging the "militarization" of domestic LEO's we've had over the last 20-30 years either.

pss. - I hope this post doesn't make me "non grata" at CC, I like it here! :blowkiss: But since you mention it, I might could also take a looky see over to CU to see what goes on "over at the other place" as I'm not really super familiar with them.

You're not going to see anything.  There was a hard drive crash that wiped out all the '08 primary/RonBot invasion, but we have some threads on the subject:

Ron is like a stopped clock. He's right twice a day, but all the rest makes him useless. The nuttyness so outweighs the insight, he is a loose cannon.

Sorry, but I can't feign tolerance for the halfwit supporters of that crackpot saboteur.
As he and the tiny sliver of his supporters who aren't halfwits realize, the only thing he has ever accomplished is to help elect democrats.
So, the world would be a better place if they would all take the advice I gave in my previous post.

Regarding the last few posts to this thread, I feel as though I may have been called out for offending either some other members, or the general atmosphere of the Cave. If I'm mistaken, my apologies will be forthcoming for the overreaction.

Since I have apparently unwittingly hijacked my own thread earlier, I feel compelled to reply one last time. Maybe we could move to a more appropriate forum (perhaps FC).
