A Tale of Two Moralities

When South Carolina governor Mark Sanford made his rambling, tearful admission of infidelity on Wednesday, some people felt a bit of sympathy for him. Sure, he probably had no intention of coming clean until he was caught in the act of returning from Buenos Aires -- but, once he finally got around to it, his confession was relatively heartfelt and not as obviously self-serving as we've come to expect from straying politicians.
Of course, that was Wednesday. Given time to collect himself, Sanford's GOP instincts for hypocrisy wrapped in sanctimony appear to have made a full recovery. Via TPM Muckraker, in the course of "apologizing" as the start of a cabinet meeting, Sanford invoked the biblical story of King David, who didn't quit his reign over his affair with Bathsheba.
I don't "get" the hypocrisy here.
Maybe they don't either...it's **crickets** at the DUmp.

I suppose this is supposed to be it...
Nothing says "Republican" better than citing the Bible as an excuse for clinging selfishly to power, does it?

Seriously, I'm sure glad none of our democrats have ever done wrong and yet clung to power. Talk about :censored: hypocrisy! ::) ::) ::)

Democratics who get caught wrong-doing are victims of the VRWC.

I think he should do what his concience, politics and public opinion demand he does.
Certain actions hold different consequences for different people as their position in life dictates.
He probably should step down imo.
Having said that there is not one soul on the left who can make a self righteous case about hypocricy.
They are the greatest offenders everyday as they preen about how compassionate and loving they are while in the next breath screeching hatred and selfish greed to the high heavens.

I think he should step down, despite the fact that a Dim in the same position would not only NOT step down, he would be supported in keeping his office by his constituents. You've got to have morals before you can do something wrong. :whatever:

John Edwards... *nuff said**
