Title: Twitter claims its first victim

A teenage girl was discovered dead this weekend, electrocuted after dropping her laptop in the bathtub.

Why did she need a computer in the tub? So she could update Twitter. About what she was tweeting remains unclear, but it was hopefully something more meaningful than the soap she was using.

Maria Barbu, 17, of Brasov, Romania, is said to have been plugging her laptop into wall current at the time, after "the battery died during a long session on social networking site Twitter as she took a soak."

This is just the beginning...

I'll hazard a guess:

The world is going insane. It seems more and more people are choosing a virtual existence instead of a real one.  Now, I like my internet, I like the info that is always ready available, I like posting about politics, I enjoy my email...but I sure as hell can take and bath without 24/7 access..Seriosly, I don't see the need for iPhones...I resisted even getting a cell phone...Why the hell should people have access to me 24/7!  WTF is happening to privacy.

Ok...I'm off  the soapbox  :old:

I was just wondering about that too.  But even with GFCI, who's going to risk NRTZing their laptop?

There's a lot of places in Eastern Europe where it's amazing they even use electricity.

So, does this mean that I shouldn't post a running commentary to CC during my next bath?

I'm sure it would be nothing that interesting.  Probably more about how I need to add more hot or cold water, and how my toenail polish is starting to chip  :p

I really just don't give enough of a shit what anyone else is doing to screw with stalking them on Twitter, nor does any hypothetical need to know what I'm doing at any given time on their part make the needle quiver off the peg on my CaremeterTM

Hmmmm...maybe that's why I've never even BEEN to twitter, let alone posted there.

As far as I'm aware, it's a "social" site where you can pretty much just post updates about what you're doing in your everyday life.

As this story goes to show though, in far to many cases it's become peoples lives.
