This was in the activist forum on Skins's island; as one can imagine, there's hardly ever any action in this forum.

June 25th is National Sick-Out Day for Single-Payer
This is a one-day general strike. Will only work if it goes viral, so pass it on.

4. If people actually do it, it'll be covered.
What it needs is more play on the websites of the groups that claim to support single-payer. Other than the doctors, nurses, and Healthcare-Now!, a more mealy-mouthed group of scaredy-cats I've never seen. (My apologies to cats.) I do remember what happened when young people got the word out about anti-globalization events. 1000's materialized each time, and the unions eventually were shamed into joining in.
If people use the technology they have to mass-text or audio message large numbers of friends to say that they are going to participate(stay home from school or work) and encourage their friends to do likewise, it will happen again. And Congress is easier to influence than global capitalist overlords.

Yet another in the long, long, long, long, long, long list of failed DUmmy protests.
Hey Bijou, was that list you compiled of failed protest ideas done here or at CU? That was a classic thread.
-
They are so cute when they think they have any relevance in the real world.
If one of the nutbags called in sick I would dismiss them so they could get their free health care.
-
How do you call in sick from sitting in Mom's basement eating Cheeto's? :thatsright:
-
I wont be able to take part but I will email pictures of my hand for this event. :lmao:

It was at CU and on a previous computer :( so I don't have it. Perhaps I will do an updated one as I think it was about 3 or 4 years ago now.

They won't get any results until they announce a date when they will spend not one damn dime.
Starve the beast.
That has always been a failproof protest strategy.
It's how they got us out of Iraq, got Rove indicted, won Ohio for Kerry, impeached Bush, and saved Tookie.
The big shots at the AMA are trembling in their boots hoping that weapon doesn't get unlimbered.

I thought it was pretty old and might be lost forever. :(

Wait, wouldn't they actually have to have jobs for this to work...?
-
grrrrrrrrr...... :censored:
I don't have health insurance as I am an independent contractor and right now, with the current real estate market, I can't afford health insurance.
Until Obama decides to "fix" the irresponsible, frivolous law suits against physicians, hospitals, health care providers...so that their malpractice fees go down....we are never going to have a good solution to health care in this country.
Oh...but that would affect his lawyer buddies that are making tens of thousands of dollars on these suits.

If these morans had half a brain, they would schedule it for Sunday.. then they could claim it a HUGH success... I'm series.

Planned your work stoppage in advance to show solidarity?

This is so moronic on so many levels. Call in fake-sick to work in a recession? (the few who may have a job.) You may get canned and then you'll really be in a bind.
Single-payer, government run healthcare is OVERWHELMINGLY unpopular in the populace, it's just these losers hoping to freeload the system. So, mass support is non-existant. Personally, I can't believe the democrats are even pursuing it; it could be suicide for the party forever. Same with Cap n Trade.
