The text of the amendment that was voted down on party lines in the U.S. Senate HELP Committee, states:

“The Center shall not develop Quality-Adjusted Live Year measures or any other methodologies for the denial of Medicare benefits to patients against their wishes (or if the patient is incompetent, against the wishes of the patient’s surrogate) on the basis of the patient’s age or expected length of life or of the patients present or predicted disability, degree of medical dependency or quality of life.”

Here is the Roll Call vote:

Purpose: To prohibit the development of healthcare rationing methods.

We knew this would never fly with the DimRats. Rationing of healthcare is going to be a big power play for the Dims.

I don't see this as nefarious nearly as much as I see it as a confession that costs are going to explode and the dims won't be able to supply an endless barrel of money.

I dunno, I see any rationing of health care to be nefarious. Granted that given the way government bureaucracy works, (slowly if at all), will mean delays in potentially life saving treatments.

Obama had a press conference today and I listened in to his healthcare reform policy.  The question is how was how will independant companies compete with gov't healthcare program.  Obama admitted the gov't can just print money and that's why a debate is important...  :mental:
