Title: Obama Touts Proposed New Financial Regulations

U.S. President Barack Obama is defending a proposed new agency designed to protect American consumers against deceptive practices by the financial services industry.

In his weekly address Saturday, Mr. Obama says a breakdown in government oversight led to an "epidemic of irresponsibility" from Wall Street to Washington, ultimately triggering the current economic crisis.

The president proposed a set of new regulatory reforms earlier this week, including a new Consumer Financial Protection Agency. He says the new agency will have the power to set tough new rules to force companies to offer innovative products that Americans can understand.

I said this years ago, and I'll say it again.

I DON'T WANT THE GOVERNMENT TO BE MY BIG BROTHER!

Okay, that's better.

Then why do you pitch for their team?  Battered Liberal Syndrome?

First the government forces banks to credit to people that can't afford it, then the banks have to raise rates to cover their losses, then the government says that's not fair....blah, blah, blah....until it all collapses....then the damn government borrows more money to add to it's own staggering debt....blah, blah, blah.

I keep thinking that being a Dem normally means some more taxation and more socially liberal policies. I don't normally associate them with regulation beyond reason. Not normally. No way in hell is this going to pass. It's not.

Cannot you use this to understand that every step towards socialism this nation takes is a step towards social enslavement?  This nation, as designed, is the total opposite of modern liberalism.  To support liberalism and to call yourself a liberal makes you an enemy of free people.  The two cannot coexist.

Do you not realize the socialism and liberalism you so admire in other nations could not now or ever have existed without the oasis of freedom and anti-socialism of the USA?  We have supported these western nations while they set about destroying the spirit of personal freedom in their own nations with their spare dollars.  Why so is another thread.

If socialists were smart people, which is laughable, they would be the ones demanding the USA reject socialism while insisting liberals be burned at the stake.  Liberals trying to destroy the design of the USA is like the heirs of Daddy's money trying to get the guardian of the estate high so they can raid the vault (which will never be restocked) so they can buy more drugs.

Total Capitalism is about always having a hands off approach. Why can't there be a middle ground between total Capitalism and total Socialism? And I don't mean to be a smart ass, but does either one have to do with regulation? That's another thing. Why can't there be a middleground between hands off regulation and big brother?

Let's say I had plans on raping you, but, in a fit of altruistic sympathy, I decided that I would "compromise" and settle for a mere BJ. Would that be OK with you? The point is that we're talking about my freedom and my money. It's not your place to try to find a "middle ground" with my property or liberties.

How convenient. He and his fellow crooks sink the system then demand the power to regulate it.

Keep in mind this is the same guy that illegally fires IG's anytime they get too close to his friends.

And you voted for this crook?

Okay, I think it's weird that you would compare the two? First of all, are you a man? I don't know any woman who would find it acceptable to compare rape to Social programs.

Next, I don't really equate complete Capitalism to freedom. You all see it as freedom. I see as nothing more than an Economical system. It might be the one we need to use, but it's not about freedom to me.

Now, this idea of pretty much taking over the business world. That's playing big brother to me.

I think it's weird too.  Rape is a momentary act.  Regulation by an out-of-control government goes on and on.
