I just got back from a long motorcycle trip. We rode from East Texas to Angel Fire, New Mexico. While up there we were doing some touring and ended up in Santa Fe, NM at the Harley shop. We were headed to a little town named Madrid, NM ... this is where part of the movie Wild Hogs was filmed. We heard that Maggie's Diner was there (and it is but it is just a set) and we wanted to get pictures.
This whole town is full of loons! They were running around burning bundles of something, chanting, selling crap on the street .... you could smell hippie everywhere and I was afraid I was going to get infected so we rode on out of town without doing any exploring.
I post this as just a warning. If you want to see Maggie's Diner it is on the North end of town on the West side of the street. Don't dawdle, just take your pictures and get the hell out of there.

LOL! Ewwwwwwwwwww. Sounds about right though.

Uh, I could be wrong, but it seems to me when the New Mexico primitives were discussing a get-together last February, just before the baby-talking warped primitive's eye surgery, this was one of those places the primitives were all agog and excited about.
When you were there, you didn't happen to see a big-boned (big-boned, not fat) muscular woman with broad shoulders and some facial hair running around, did you?

Frank ...... It would have been easier if you had asked me to report back on a good looking, nicely built woman. There were about 2 of those. The rest all fit the description you just gave.

Dixie .... it was horrible. I mean HORRIBLE and I ain't kidding. There were a couple of places in New Mexico that were swamped with hippies. Honest to got hippies. There was a place just outside the Rio Grande River Gorge called (I kid you not) 'Earth Ship'. It was a small subdivision of hobbit style homes. All mostly underground with the really odd colors, sweeping walls (what you could see coming up out of the ground), solar panels, small windmills on each one, dirt roads to each hovel..... UGLY. In the middle of a desert.

OH I forgot .... they also have 'Rainbow' people up there. All the New Mexicans know about them. It seems that these rainbow people are very nomadic and basically just travel around living off the generosity of those who actually work for a living. Most of the New Mexicans I spoke with said they were all druggies so they wouldn't give them actual money but they would give them food and clothing. They are a bunch of free sex, free booze, free living hippies who petition the gov'ts up there to let them live on public land for months for FREE and when they pull out the place they were at is absolutely trashed and the locals all get together and go clean up their mess.
Taos didn't look much better but I did want to walk around there .... just didn't have time.

Well, this one would be 60 years old, speaking Massachusettsese.

Yeah, the Santa Fe area is being overrun with California and NE liberals. I used to ski up there about once every two years. It is getting so shitty with them that I don't really like going anymore.

Well, I'm sure I looked like a bumpkin come to town, standing there with my eyes big and my mouth hanging open. Sorry, we didn't actually talk to anyone .... just kind of looked, laughed and rode on.

I think a whole lot of North Eastern New Mexico is going the way of the hippie. Lots of cafe's didn't even serve normal food. It was all organic this and dirt covered that. I've been to a lot of places but some of the stuff I saw on menu's up there were absolutely foreign to me.

NM can be the liberal reservation when we run them out of the US

Not all of NM is like that. Farmington (my alma mater) is quite conservative. The joke goes that we used to hate Texans until the Californians showed up. And yeah, that whole area (Taos, Santa Fe, Red River, Angel Fire) is full of moonbats who were just to effed up to stay in California.

There are liberals who are too moonbatty for California? Wow, I may need some time to process this. That means that there is whole other level of crazy that I haven't seen yet. :mental:

I clicked on the so called recordings, and nothing. I thought I heard something, then I realized that my brother's phone was on vibrate

That's because New Mexicans want to deny the fact that their state was once actually part of Texas. Everything East of the Rio Grande once belonged to Texas. I used to tease my ex-bro-in-law about that because he lived in Belen, which is separated by the Rio Grande. Once east of the Rio Grande, I'd say, "We're back in Texas now"..... :fuelfire:
-
Yep, and we used to say that the wind blew from west to east cause Texas sucked.

And us Texans always say that the wind blows from the west to the east because NM blows and Louisiana sucks !
Also, we have figured out that Texas doesn't float away into the Gulf of Mexico because Oklahoma sucks !!
:stirpot:

STFU before I call up Sarah Palin and have her cut Alaska in two to make Texas the THIRD-largest state. :cheersmate:

you could smell hippie everywhere...
Dude !! I hope you were packing.
I hate hippies. :fuelfire:
-
Well now we know what all that radiation does to you after they tested the first atomic bomb in NM.

Oh ..... I was packing but it wasn't something I was willing to share with a damn hippie! :lmao:
