Title: Der Humpen Day! Let joyous mirth embiggen your troubled mid work week hearts!
Post by: asdf2231 on June 17, 2009, 08:08:13 AM
Happy Hump Day!!

Cloudy and cooler here with a buttload of rain over the next few days that will probably make it impossible for me to get the grass killed before we leave Saturday for vacation.  Grrrrr.

My eldest left for summer camp for three weeks yesterday.  Her second year of Councilor In Training camp for the Girl Scouts and she's going to be shepherding little people the whole time she is there.

We are dropping my wife at the airport later this morning so she can catch her flight into DC where she's going to be working for the next 10 days.  On a plus note the Mancub and I are going to be flying out Saturday to join her for most of the week since she is at a professional conference with a couple of work days at the companies east coast facility sandwiched on either end.  For a couple of days though it is just us menfolk here in the casa.

Really nice hotel in downtown DC and a ton of touristy things to do and old friends to catch up with during the day when she is seminaring.  It's going to be a blast.  I think we are going to the Air And Space Annex on Sunday to look around.  They reassembled the Enola Gay and have her displayed there along with the Enterprise space shuttle and a bunch of other stuff.  Smithsonian museums, probably the navy museum and we will see what else we can find to do.  We did an evening monument tour right before we moved away from there that was the coolest thing we ever did in DC.  It might be fun to hit that again.

I don't have anything planned today.  I told two of my supervisors that my workload was light yesterday, so I could help them with anything, and I got five new cases, so I have work today  :-) I start getting paranoid when no work comes my way...

I'm going to drag myself to the gym this afternoon.  I've been busy, and have started slacking off on going, so I need to just suck it up and go.  I've decided that I don't get to buy new clothes until I'm a new size, and I'm getting really tired of most of my current outfits so I need to pick up the pace here  :cheersmate:

That reminds me of my pre-nap rest periods.

My wife just reminded me this is June 17th.  It's my annual doorknob tightening day.  Gotta check every screw.

Rainy and chilly here again. Sheesh. Makes me miss 110 degree Texas heat. (Almost!)

Our new bed got delivered yesterday. I am in heaven. First night sleeping on a mattress I actually like. 10 years of sleeping on mattresses that neither one of us loved will kill your back! We found a manufacturer that makes each side of the mattress in whatever level of firmness you like based on the "diagnostic" they run. You basically lay on a test bed that has sensors and then fill out a questionaire. I was categorized in the softest level and my husband was on the other end of the spectrum. No wonder we hated our bed!! LOL!

Anyway, I am now in bed heaven and loving this thing.

We have a deal.  It's OK as long as I don't wake her.

Went and had a medical test done this morning.  Appt was for 8...didn't get started 'til 8:30, and then had to wait for 30 minutes in the middle of it for the PA to finish with another patient.  Oiy.  But, it was a good reason to be late.  The tech doing my appt had a new grandbaby born last night!

Nurse couldn't get an IV started though...dug around in one arm far too long before she decided to try the other arm!

Anyway, home now, and I'm enjoying a cup of tea!

Pouring rain, so baseball practice this morning was cancelled.  Did I mention my 14 yr old made the All-Star team?  He's psyched!

My Trailblazer is out of commission until I come up with 1000 bucks to replace the back hatch glass.

I get to spend another bit of time in the super-magnet today (MRI). Then there's the stuff at/ for the VFW to get done.

The bed sounds nice.

What happens when you both meet in the middle?  :evillaugh:

I hate that.

On my birthday, I spent part of the day trying to explain to the lab tech that she should try my hand for the six vials of blood. She decided I was correct, after a couple false sticks in the arm. When I was younger, they would try to stick me so many times, I would either pass out, or leave bruised, or both...

Redneck it......plastic and duct tape......when you go to pickup the kids, they'll come a running, shouting "Gun it".....kids are easily embarrassed.
