Shoe Bomber Being Force Fed During Hunger Strike
British shoe bomber Richard Reid is being force fed in a maximum-security prison in the U.S. after refusing to eat for several weeks.
Court documents showed the 35-year-old, who was convicted in 2003 of trying to blow up a trans-Atlantic plane, has rejected food since March.
Prison officials decided "that medical intervention was necessary" on April 7, a government lawyer said.
Reid had refused 59 meals by April 9 and was now being force fed and hydrated, according to the documents dated April 14.
An update filed to the court on Friday confirmed he was still on hunger strike with prison officials continuing to monitor his condition.
Reid is being held at the Supermax prison, the highest-security federal jail in the US, in Florence, Colorado.
It is not clear whether the hunger strike is related to a legal action he has filed against prison officials.
That's just stupid. If he really wants to die, let him. Hand him a 9mm with one round in it. Put him in solitary and don't open the door for 30 days or until you hear BANG, whichever comes first.

How much is the taxpayer paying to keep that scumbag alive?
Is he worth it?
IIRC, he copped a plea so he got himself a life-in-prison-without-parole meal ticket. Now the ****stick is having a hard time with his isolation - 23 hours per day in his cell, I think, with a solitary excursion into an exercise room.
The ****stick actually had the 'nads to file a court action against prison officials? WTF???? What did they do? Refuse to accommodate his demand for ketchup on his french fries?

I was hoping he'd choke to death on a pork chop.

Let him eat shoes.

Is he being force fed pork and other pig products? :evillaugh:

He's doing this of his own free will, why stop him?? :evillaugh:

'Security reasons'
The US justice department told the District Court judge in Denver overseeing the lawsuit that the restrictions were required for security reasons.
They include denying visits that other inmates are allowed, and tight controls on written and telephone communication with lawyers and others outside prison.
Regarding the denial of group prayer, the department says it is concerned Reid might pray with inmates who were co-conspirators of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.
A government lawyer said that Reid had refused 58 meals by 9 April and that prison officials decided "that medical intervention was necessary".

Shoe bomber's prison restrictions expire June 17
Associated Press - June 11, 2009 1:54 PM ET
DENVER (AP) - A federal prosecutor says special prison restrictions will expire next week for the man who tried to destroy a trans-Atlantic flight in 2001 with explosives hidden in his shoes.
Convicted shoe bomber Richard Reid is serving a life sentence at the maximum-security prison in Florence, Colo., known as Supermax.
Reid filed a lawsuit saying the restrictions placed on him after he arrived at the prison in 2003 denied him the ability to practice his Muslim faith, to participate in educational and recreational activities, and to contact reporters.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Susan Prose wrote in documents filed in U.S. District Court on Tuesday hat the measures will expire Wednesday and won't be renewed.

Yup. He should be allowed to die of starvation as a matter of freedom of expression. :fuelfire:

I also think that his right to associate is being impaired by keeping him in a SuperMax facility. The Federal Gummint should move him somewhere with a general population for him to associate with.

Maybe they're forcefeeding him bunnies. lol.
If I was to forcefeed somebody, I'd make it something nasty. How about Brussel Sprouts?

Brussel sprouts.........yeah, right!
