I got a job! and I start exactly one month after I was laid off. Furthermore this is a step up with a 5% increase in pay--with the same company! So all my vacation and seniority is still intact!
Amen!

That is awesome! Congratulations!

Nice goin', Mr. Mannn!
(Why did the layoff happen to begin with? They get rid of you, then turn right around and hire you back?) :clueless:

Penny-wise, pound foolish. Who cares? It's a raise, anyway.

I work with a bank. loans are way down and so is the volume of work. Jobs are being generated in collections so I wasn't too worried. As it is I applied for 50 open positions at my company, and being laid off I get preferential treatment for the first two months. I have some $3000 in the bank, 5 months paid to find a job so I was never hurting.
The important thing for me is I get to keep my seniority, an important think in this market.

I am dying of envy.
I can't get into collections.
Good job though.
(Just got another thanks but no thanks letter from my bank. bleh)

Just keep plugging away. I had about 9 face to face interviews before I got my offer. 6 years ago it took me 4 months to get a job.
I made a point to find out the supervisor's name and I emailed him my resume. I was assuming I would have to compete with 500 people for every opening. This way i would stand out and earn an interview. Afterwards I would email a thank you.
--do anything to stand out from the crowd.

great news, congrats!
-
Thank Heaven Obama saved a job for you!
I keed! I keed!

WOOHOO!!!! Welcome to the 90% club!!!!

Its Friday. I start Monday. Its all just way too sweet.
Thanks gang! after all is said and done, its like a great weight is off my shoulders.
I will say I applied for like 50 jobs with my company. The jobs were always there. But each job has like 500 people applying for it.
So I emailed my resume to each supervisor just to stand out from the crowd. that alone got me a ton of interviews.
Then I emailed a thank you after the interview-again just to stand out.
If you guys ever get into a situation like me, do whatever you can to stand out cause in this market you will have to compete just to be heard.
And plug away like there's no tomorrow. Never quit and never give up.
And thank CC. Its good to have solid friends like you guys to hang with in the down times.

The good news is, I may have some extra money coming in soon as I've found some extra work. My friend Patty promised me a blow job.

Today is my first day...and i am dead tired.
I trained all day. You know what that means> It means i watched other people work all day.
I don't know why, but that's far more exhausting than doing the work myself.
Still its a GOOD tired!
