268.00 for a blood test.
every couple yrs or so I have my thyroid levels checked to adjust my synthroid medication.
2 yrs ago, cost was 82.00
today: 268.00
I have catastrophic health care insurance. no doctors visits paid for, 10,000 deductible. I pay 240 a month for the cheapest HCare insurance I could find from state farm.
so all tests, procedures, out of pocket.
no wonder everyone is dying or staying sick.

Our daughter had a blood test done at the Cleveland Clinic that amounted to no more than a prick of the finger and let it drip on a mat on the floor until it clotted.
$365.00 was the bill.
And who paid the bill? The prideful primitive, her daughter, an insurance company, or the taxpayers? One suspects the last one.

When you have "middlemen" involved in the equation, you have higher costs.
Contrary to what Republicans want us to believe, privatizing does not make operations run more efficiently with lower costs. Just the opposite.
Health care, along with energy and education, should be considered national security issues and treated as such.
No one should be permitted to profit from health care...

If nobody were allowed to profit in healthcare, then why would people choose to go into health care :thatsright: Do they think that nurses, doctors, anesthesiologists, receptionists, and everybody else in involved in health care are going to work out of the goodness of their hearts :whatever:

The astronomical costs are an artifact of having a de facto universal health system now. Somebody has to foot the bill for all the indigents who show up with sniffles at the ERs, head-injured bikers and 'Extreme sports enthusiasts' on life support, and crack dealers/meth cookers with gunshot wounds.

I've got an idea! If it is found you got hurt doing something stupid or illegal, we just leave you out on the street to fend for yourself. Just think of the black market profits it could involve! We'd have to have another law enforcement agency to deal with it! Hence create jobs! [/obama]
