I wish I wouldn't have to use that comparison, but given the media slant of disparaging the former vice-president and his own resultant low ratings based upon that slant, one has to take what one can get.
Cheney and Pelosi Have Poor Ratings in Common
Pelosi’s ratings down, while Cheney’s improved from record low
PRINCETON, NJ -- Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and former Vice President Dick Cheney have little in common politically, but they receive almost identical image ratings from the American public. According to a May 29-31 Gallup Poll, 37% of Americans have a favorable view of Cheney and 34% have a favorable view of Pelosi. Both Cheney and Pelosi are viewed unfavorably by at least half of Americans.....
Cheney's improved ratings are mainly due to the views of independents: the percentage viewing him favorably rose from 21% in March to 37% today. There was also a slight increase in his favorable rating from Republicans, from 64% to 70%.....

Funny. I was going to start a poll, here. Who do you like better? Newt or Cheney?
I suspect I'm like a lot of you that tend to gravitate towards the people that are most hated by
the people whose opinions we always disagree with?

I actually like Cheney a lot more, he just has a total no-holds-barred, I-shit-you-not kind of air that gives me a 'kindred spirit' feeling; while I agree with most of what Newt says these days, he badly overplayed his hand as Speaker instead of consolidating his gains, and seems to exude a sort of arrogance in his personal manner that makes me question if he can accept any responsibility for the outcome and not just make the same mistakes again.
