I will not be joining in the celebrations that will be the fruit of this bill.

1. He was over-celebrated while still alive. Even GF Will said folks needed to stop naming stuff after him. That it had gotten out of hand.

4. As much as I can't stand Reagan I'm also not bothered by this
Obama can once again say he 'reached across the aisle' and this will have little other impact on us.

6. I would agree, but DC's airport has been named for him, the largest Federal bldg in DC has been named for him and one of the navy's largest ships has been named for him.
All while he was still alive.
The Ronald Reagan Legacy Commission was very effective.

312 miles formerly called the Sunshine State Parkway, since 1998 the Ronald Reagan Turnpike.
Republicans do admire their criminals.

21. 'across the aisle' are the enemies of the old free republic called America
Reaching to them without a sword in hard is a betrayal of all we were taught growing up.

26. Oh I agree
Just that there isn't much this bill causes other than a recognition that the guy was born 100 years ago.

27. The right seems to get a second wind every time his name is mentioned.
I just wish Dem leaders wouldn't talk about him without detailing some of the damage that he caused.

34. Obama had to sign it but this continued "celebration" of that felon keeps reinforcing the idea that he was good for this country.
When the wing nuttery starts their song and dance, we better be ready to counter their cr@p because the Democrats can't.

5. Why don't they just change Christmas to Ronald Reagan Day and be done with it.
It seems like that is the direction they are headed.

25. If he had quietly stayed home with his disease, I would agree. But the world suffered from the damage and death he and his administration brought to us all. His state of "mind" is fair game.
It's a big bonfire, but the above front part of it pretty much reflects all that's said.

28. We need counter celebrations -- to celebrate the end of Central American death squads, to celebrate AIDs awareness, poverty abatement warriors, and labor heroes. If the Feds are going to fund this, then our events should get funds, too.
**** Raygun.

Reagan left office in January, 1989. We have had four Presidents since he has left office. Reagan's legacy was ourselves, whether or not we had the mental discipline to address hard questions and even harder answers. Under our system of government, the President proposes legislation, and the Congress acts on legislation, with the Judiciary as arbiter of law as seen through the Constitution. Since Reagan left office, both parties have failed their constituents. Democrats, simply remained Democrats, and sought more programs, more money, less freedom and liberties. Republicans simply abdicated the precepts and principles of Reagan. They too, wanted to become popular and spend money. As a direct result, we're in the mess today because of sloth and laziness. Future generations will curse today's generation and say "What the hell were you thinking?".....and history will judge US very harshly.
Forget about the debt we are burdening our children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren with,.......the true loss to the world will be the American example of being the world's steward of liberty and freedom, be it economic, militarily, political, and social. No longer will America be the "shining city on the hill" for all people, of all creeds, of all religions. The world will be a darker, more tyrannical, less unique without a strong and vibrant America.
How do we return to being Americans?
Simple.
Rely more on yourself...and less on the proceeds from Government.
Believe in your work, your family, your network of close friends and family. Work and encourage them.
Give freely to those charities which share your beliefs.
Teach future generations the value of hard work and sacrifice.
Save, live within your means.
Educate yourselves all your life, particularly unadulterated American history. Teach the American Revolution, the Articles of Confederation, the US Constitution and it's Amendments, and the United States Government structure. Teach it all, warts and all.
Most of all
