$50 billion dollars of US govt. money invested in GM and my neighbor goes out and buys a Volkswagen
He was bragging to me about how the speedometer goes to 150 MPH. I said wow! But isn't purchasing cars from our governments competitor in the auto business kind of unpatriotic I asked?
He didn't answer and changed the subject.
I let it go.
Let him think about it.

Your neighbor knows that you're an 0Bamabot and wanted to get away from you, right?

5. If it's the one that meets his needs, fine.
The whole idea of competition is that you get to buy the car you actually want, not the one someone else thinks you should buy. I would much prefer that the US car companies become competitive by offering vehicles that are attractive to consumers.

6. My VW's been rudely pointing and laughing at GM cars all day.
Ooops, a couple of more people to report to Dear Leader.

43. Years ago, I got hit while driving a Ford Thunderbird.
I was hit very, very hard. The glass Moonroof popped out of the roof. The policeman who arrived on the scene first told me I was lucky I wasn't driving some little foreign car, as the paramedics would likely be "picking my face out of the windshield" if I had been.
I walked away from the accident with a few minor bruises.
Um, yeah AndyAhole, about those small death traps? Guess what cars Government Motors will be producing to meet the new CAFE standards and pollution controls? That's right, little teeny tiny death traps.

Uh, DUmmie? Did it ever occur to you that government ANYTHING is pretty much gonna, well, SUCK?
You think your neighbor knew that too and got a dependable (well, MORE dependable) car instead of the 2010 Lada or Zaporozhets that the Obamamotors is sure to produce.
Is next--sparrts caaaar!
Is next--luxury caaaar!

Will the Pontiac Obama or Buick Biden roll out for 2010 or 2011? Maybe a Chevrolet Kennedy in honor of Fat Teddy?

Well maybe he thought he'd already given enough to GM and just wanted to spread the wealth around.

Telling that he referred to Volkswagen as "our government's competitor".
Those words send chills up my spine.......

You beat me by about a minute.
Yes, I would counter with,"I already bought a car from GM. I just don't get to drive it, and the money is going to help maintain the golf course at the multi-million dollar UAW country club."

Actually, I was thinking an Oldsmobile Kennedy myself, complete with airbags designed to keep it from sinking, until I realized that Olds went under 5 years ago. Just another company that was "too big to fail" going away.
And that phrase makes me curious--if GM is "too big to fail", what do you think the government would do for Wal-Mart if they started to struggle?
-
I can't wait to see the new "Government Motors (GM) Corvette".

It would only get help if every store and department were unionized as a result of government aid. Of course that means their prices would have to go up.

I can't wait to see the new "Government Motors (GM) Corvette".
It would have a 'Vette shell, but under the hood a 1.8 liter engine with a pollution control and EGR system that outweighs the engine.

Wow, for a truly gutless turd from the seventies comrade Sparky my I offer you this bad boy:
This is the car that gave Communism a bad name. Powered by a two-stroke pollution generator that maxed out at an ear-splitting 18 hp, the Trabant was a hollow lie of a car constructed of recycled worthlessness (actually, the body was made of a fiberglass-like Duroplast, reinforced with recycled fibers like cotton and wood). A virtual antique when it was designed in the 1950s, the Trabant was East Germany's answer to the VW Beetle — a "people's car," as if the people didn't have enough to worry about. Trabants smoked like an Iraqi oil fire, when they ran at all, and often lacked even the most basic of amenities, like brake lights or turn signals. But history has been kind to the Trabi. Thousands of East Germans drove their Trabants over the border when the Wall fell, which made it a kind of automotive liberator. Once across the border, the none-too-sentimental Ostdeutschlanders immediately abandoned their cars. Ich bin Junk
Just readin' them specs makes ya swoon an say, "Golly I miss Jimmah Carter" :thatsright:
-
Ah yes, the Trabi...drop a four-cycle engine in it, and you'll have the new GM Car Of Tomorrow! :fuelfire:
-
Yeah it looks like Gettlefinger Motors is going to take right off :loser:
-
His neighbor sounds very intelligent, compared to DUmmies
-
Now...the DUmmies like domestic cars?.....hell nearly all the Priuses and Lezbarus around here are covered with lib tard stickers.

We should have a thread in which we name cars after Democratic politicians. Maybe describe their characteristics. Might be fun.
