Why Were The Torture Pics Taken In The First Place?........retard posting found here... (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x5736688)
It's bad enough to torture people and for an administration (BushCo) to condone torture. But why did they have to record their efforts? Why did they take pictures of people being tortured? Who ordered taking the pictures? Who took the pictures?
It just seems to me that the pics just add insult to injury.
I also remember after the first batch of pics came out and were exposed - that there was talk about a second batch of pics that depicted even worse atrocities. I recall that members of Congress were invited to view this second batch and came out afterwards horrified by what they saw. This was back in 2005 - 2006. There was discussion then about rape being shown.
Now all of a sudden the Pentagon is denying the rape pics. And Obama is saying that these pics were no worse than the initial bunch that was released.
Does anybody have any of the reports from back then when Congress reviewed this second batch of pics? It should be on the record and available.
If you read the news, you'd find the pictures at GITMO were part of teh investigation process into any alledged abuse. The so-called 'rape' pictures, which I am sure the DUmpmonkiez are drooling to get their hands on- well...one hand at least- were not disclosed because they were not real...
oh, well... on to insanity...

2. They were used to further 'interrogate' prisoners.
They were told if they didn't talk, their family's would see the pics. They were also shown to others as a threat of what was coming their way if they didn't cooperate.
When we don't know something- just make up crap.

Whatever pics were taken were probably used to document that NO torture took place.
That is my guess at it.

Most of them exist because morons who will break the law and disobey orders can buy cell phones with cameras, just like anyone else can. Of course that does make CID's work a whole lot easier.
-
Most of what they speculate as acts of torture at Gitmo, did not even happen at Gitmo in the first place. The captives were held at other locations.

Absolutely correct. Gitmo has always been a rather tightly-run and closely-supervised place, the pictures involved in this dispute are pics that morons acting without adult supervision took of themselves doing stupid and illegal things to the prisoners, NOT part of any sanctioned treatment. Custodial MPs are a lot like civilian correctional officers, mostly correct and professional but not every last one of them...the less supervision they have and the more slack the discipline, the more likely there will be mistreatment of prisoners. Abu Ghraib was more or less the opposite of Gitmo - no supervision or discipline worthy of the names.

There may be photos of soldiers breaking the law, but so far I've seen no evidence of anything that a reasonable person would call torture.
Oh, my god, the poor sand monkeys, someone put women's panties on their heads. In my college days I had great times at parties where similar things happened. But, but, they're ragheads, and such things insult their "culture". That's torture??
Remember, their "culture" also includes marrying six-year-old girls, and blowing themselves up, so it's pretty hard for them to avoid being insulted by civilized people.

Has anybody ever thought it would be like, being in prison in Cuba or Zinbwabwe or North Korea or Venezuela or Vietnam or Iran or Kenya?
If the best I could pick for accommodations was Guantanamo or Abu Gharib, it'd be no contest, either one of those over all the others above.
The Depths of Evil are nowhere near anything run by the United States.

I've always wondered if it wasn't just that one shift, which seems to have been the night shift. It seems as if they mice were running wild when the cat (anyone with a lick of common sense apparently) was away.

Sometimes the girls helped you take the panties off of their hips, right? :innocent:

LOL
I was told by a young man in Iraq that he could not even rest his foot on the edge of a catwalk, as the exposure of the bottom of his boot was offensive to the Iraqis in custody.

I knew a couple of senior people associated with the whole thing and talked to them off the record about it back in 2005/2006. The particular battalion involved was as ****ed-up as a soup sandwich and their one-star at the next level was every bit as derelict but autocratic as the picture painted of her, quite a bit more so really since a lot of failings not directly relevant to the allegations at hand never made it into the public eye. The other shifts just had better low-level leadership and probably more real work to do to keep them productively occupied during the days, plus I suppose a background awareness that the battalion command and staff was at least awake during their shifts, so there was at least some very remote possiblity they might actually show up somewhere outside the HQ.
