Right-wingers/conservatives/Republicans are fond of saying the above.
Trouble is, most countries I (and many progressives) would want to go to are very particular about whom they take. For instance, Canada, the UK, Scandinavian countries. I'm talking about moving to another country with the idea of eventually becoming a citizen of that country.
If you're a young, skilled worker and can get Canadian citizenship, good for you. But for many of us, that's not an option, due to age, not having a skill the other country needs, etc., that's not an option.
So your socialist utopias don't want unemployable lazy bums who pay noting into the system but want all the benefits? Amazing that they only want citizens that can contribute something and not just suck off the government teat.

What is funny about Canada is that it is truly hard to emigrate there legally from the first world, even from the US. Yet if you arrive on a flight from some third world shit hole with no papers at all and claim asylum, they will give you an immigration hearing date about two years out. In the meantime, you get a social insurance card that allows you to work (or collect welfare) and get free health care.

I said this in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, and now in 2009: when DUmmies speak of leaving the US, they do not want to be hassled by such details as learning to speak a new language, or to live in a new culture. They do not wish to be surrounded by brown people, and they have little interest in obtaining job skills desired by other countries. The demands of a permanent DU emigree are stated succinctly:
1. It must be an English-speaking country;
2. Job skills are not required;
3. There must be a comprehensive social safety net;
4. Healthcare must be free;
5. Goods and services, including housing, must be subsidized and/or altogether free;
6. At a minimum, marijuana must be legal;
7. The weather must agree with their rococo health concerns;
8. As few brown people as necessary.
This, despite their derision for all things American, and their reflexive and unconditional support for any culture that runs counter to American culture. In essence, they want to move to the America they want, but which never existed and never will.

Isn't Mexico the place that where immigrants have almost no rights? I think I remember reading somewhere that illegals coming into Mexico from the south have a good chance of being shot.

Mexico is the place where if you are caught as an illegal alien, you will be arrested, beaten, robbed (by la policia), and if you are female, likely sexually assaulted. There are no court appointed lawyers for illegal aliens there, so you will be required to provide for your own defense attorney (after having been thoroughly robbed by the police, of course) - or not. You will be tried for being in the country illegally, and upon conviction, sentenced to 2-5 years of hard labor incarceration. Upon release from sentence, do not be caught in the country by any police official again, otherwise you get to start the cycle all over again.
Kinda makes you long for the "justice" system of the good old Estatos Unitas, eh?

Blame it on Pedro Picasso, who "subscribes" to Buddhism under the misimpression that Buddhism is antithetical to Christianity, and as long as it's anti-Christianity, Pedro Picasso's all for it.
As you know, I read Pedro Picasso a great deal, and am influenced by him.
I never paid much attention to Buddhism before; Asian culture and history aren't my "things" to do, they don't turn me on. One can't be interested in all things, after all.
Stupid Pedro Picasso, on two counts.
Number one, Christianity and Buddhism are not in competition with each other; they're not at odds with each other. We're talking an orange and a penquin here, not two apples. We're talking a typewriter and the moon here.
Number two, if Pedro Picasso were at least minimally committed to Buddhism, he'd drop his decadently-wealthy life-style and materialism, and he'd become less paranoid, less Hate-filled, more serene.
But we all know how that goes.
