Title: ‘Coldcocked’ By Woman in Bar-Seat Spat, Fla. Lawyer Mulls Lawsuit

A Florida lawyer who tried to save his bar seat by leaving a Budweiser on the counter at the Chick-A-Boom Room this week got more than he bargained for.

When he returned from the restroom early Tuesday, a woman was sitting there rummaging through her purse, says attorney Louis Brunoforte of Dunedin. The two exchanged words, the 46-year-old former high-school boxer tells the St. Petersburg Times, and then—boom!—she hit him right in the mouth.

"She threw a punch like a man would throw a punch," recounts Brunoforte, who says he was "coldcocked" by the punch. "I didn't fall, but my head jolted back. She completely caught me off guard. I didn't expect it."

Since returning the 5-foot-8, 140-pound woman's punch wasn't an option, the 6-foot, 240-pound attorney says, he called the authorities. Rachel Adams, 45, of Indiana was subsequently pulled over in the vicinity and charged with driving under the influence and misdemeanor simple battery.

Adams, who did not respond to a newspaper request for comment, was released later Tuesday on $650 bail.

Since having back surgery in March, Brunoforte says, he uses a cane and a brace and hence is considering a lawsuit over the incident.

Um you may want to consider suing yourself for the humility you are causing yourself.

Why wasn't it an option? Oh, because he was afraid of her?
I've been studying Kenpo Karate for four years now, and have managed to earn my Second Brown Belt, anyone, ANYONE hits me hard enough to rock my head back is getting popped. Self-defense is still legal... I guess the 6 foot 240 pound attorney was just too much of a sissy to protect himself.

If she's big enough to throw a punch like that she's big enough to get floored. He's just a p**s, or a gentle soul :innocent:?

Would a "gentle soul" be wanting to sue to get back at her?

Loser pays the expenses of the winner, she hires two dozen attys, and this goes to the jury and they are out 23 seconds with a verdict.

This constitutes harassment anyway.   Using the cops and the courts to resolve your problems should be expensive.

Having been there (and still somewhat am), I can understand why he didn't punch back. I would probably pursue legal action vs physical violence at this point.

He had the surgery in March, 1-2 months before this incident, could he be looking for some help in paying off his medical bills?  I also have to wonder if he wasn't using the "saved seat" as a way to hit on her.

What happened to the old days?  A bar fight breaks out, friends from both sides break it up, one group leaves, and the night continues.  :old:

Ambulance chasing lawyers is what happened.

I think he let his mouth overload his @ss and she popped him one. Best way to avoid trouble in a bar is to keep your trap shut unless you are looking for trouble.
