Former top White House official Karl Rove will be interviewed tomorrow as part of an ongoing criminal investigation into the firing of U.S. attorneys during the Bush administration, according to two sources familiar with the appointment.
Rove has remained in the news as a commentator and political analyst since departing the White House. In an essay in today's Wall Street Journal, he criticized House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), arguing that she may have misled the public about her knowledge of detainee interrogation tactics that critics assert are torture.
As a senior adviser to President George W. Bush, Rove emerged at the center of numerous policy and political debates. He will be questioned tomorrow by Connecticut prosecutor Nora R. Dannehy, who was named last year to examine whether any former senior Justice Department and White House officials lied or obstructed justice in connection with the dismissal of federal prosecutors in 2006.
Robert D. Luskin, a lawyer for Rove, declined comment this afternoon on the imminent interview. So did Tom Carson, a spokesman for Dannehy.

Now we know what the dimrats are planning on using to get SanFranNan out of the news. When are they going to investigate Clinton about firing the US AG's? He fired more than President Bush did.

I suspect this will be as profitable for the dems as the so-called "torture" issue.

All former administration officials, Rove included, should just refuse to answer any investigator's questions on this BS. Like Scooter Libby, the more you say the more there is a chance you will say something different than before, which will then be used to trap you into some further mistake and get the full majesty of the law up your ass over nothing. He no longer owes W anything on this, and W sure hasn't done any of his own guys any good to merit continuing on his tactically-stupid approach to it, it is time for them all to look out for #1.

Or he should defend himself by citing exclusively from Clinton-era OLC opinions.

"the dear leader" is now working on firing U.S. attorneys.
I wonder how loud the dims/libs will howl about this?
It has been a long held tradition that new presidents replace U.S. attorneys. The dims/libs politicized the whole damned process because of their blind hatred of G.W. while ignoring that Billy "blow job" Clinton fired just as many [or even more].

Actually, he fired ALL of them as soon as he took office in 1993. Every last one. I'd also be curious to see where that "serves at the pleasure of the president" these people find so difficult.
Personally, had I been Teh Rove, I would have ended my official statement with that (and it's even in the Federal Code) and just simply walked out after that.

It is not like these liberal jerks are on a fact finding mission of any importance. They want to either pile crap on the Repubs for political points and/or indict someone. That is their #1 goal.

This must be frustrating as hell for the DUmmies and their kind because this is getting no traction at all. Nobody cares about some overpaid lawyers who got the boot by their boss during the last administration.
Nobody cares about "torture" either. Most folks wish they could have been there to watch.
Total frustration.

They are opening a can of worms.

If I were Rove, I think I'd develop a chronic case if "I do not recall" just to pissed the dems off.
