Cheney shot a man, caused inaccurate reports to filed with police, avoided questioning, and ........
.... no one did a damned thing except to paint it over with whitewash.
Imagine if that were a man living in the inner city and being of some physically obvious ethnic background.

Let's review.
Dick Cheney, the most evil man in the history of the United States, and, depending on how quick the DU mods are, a man more evil than Adolf Hitler himself, is allegedly running scared from prosecution. The noose is tightening around his neck. The Dems are about to have their Perry Mason moment, and Cheney will frogmarch.
They're SO confident of this, in fact, that Stinky the Clown resorts to adding detail that has already been examined, chewed a bit, and discarded in the way that a dog examines a grape. More than two years ago. Wow, Cheney must be paralyzed with fear.
And I never understood why liberals suddenly care that Cheney almost offed a guy. What, does Cheney go hunting with the head of the ACLU and board members of the National Lawyers Guild? Um, no. He goes hunting with people who are just like himself: old, rich white guys who probably have no issue with Gitmo detainees getting cornholed with cattleprods. But suddenly liberals have a soft spot for guys like this?
Stinky, why do you care how many old white guys Cheney sprays with buckshot?
And to answer your question, men who live in inner cities tend to wield guns at other men who live in inner cities. Those people vote Democratic (which, with Acorn running amok, they vote Dem whether they know it or not), so don't you sort of have it assbackwards? Don't you WANT those inner city dudes in jail, so as to preserve the lives of Dem voters (ignore for the moment that dead people are known to vote overwhelmingly for Democrats)?
