Talk about hardball politics.
Rep. John Murtha's opponent in the 2008 election claims the Pennsylvania congressman's chief of staff has threatened to have him recalled to active duty and court-martialed for campaigning while in the military, which is in violation of military code.
Bill Russell, an Iraq war veteran who served with the Army, told FOXNews.com that Murtha's chief of staff, John Hugya, made the threat on two occasions -- first to his former commanding officer and then to his face in March.
"It's a terrible, terrible threat to make," said Russell, a Republican who lost to the Democratic powerhouse in November but plans to challenge him again in 2010. Asked if Murtha is trying to bully him out of a rematch, Russell said: "It was a direct intent to intimidate."
Russell was on active duty for a three-month period -- from April to July -- of his campaign for Congress last year. But he said he did not campaign during that period, as Hugya was suggesting, and so did not violate military code that prohibits doing so.
"I'm very comfortable with the fact that I didn't do anything wrong and there's nothing to court martial me for if they try to do it," he said. But he said Murtha's reputation as a powerbroker on Capitol Hill puts him on edge.
"When you have a threat to be made so brazenly and openly ... you've got to take it seriously," he said.

I contributed to LTC Bill Russell's campaign, knowing full well that he would lose. No, Russell and Murtha are not in my district - I live in Missouri.
But that's how deep my loathing of Murtha is.

Texas is no better at politics than any other state. I recall a recent article where a Dallas area Mayor had one of his city council members arrested for disturbing the council meeting only because the one city council member was vociferous in his opinion on a subject before the council.

It seems odd coming out now. I guess better late than ever. That is what is wrong with conservative Repubs, they are scared to death of the O, Democraps and the liberal press. And did I mention, no state taxes, 100's of miles of beach, low cost of living, excellent college universities, extremely hot looking women, great medical facilities, hot women, great food, friendly warm people, hot women.

And as for Murtha, the fumb duck definitely needs to at least be sued for the things he said about the Hadditha 6. The P.O.S. is a disgrace.

Texas, like other states has it's pros and it's cons, will remain a conservative state as long as we adhere to sound fiscal policy. I fear the 2010 census because ACORN is ramping up big time in Dallas and Houston.

No state income tax, but sales tax is way high and property tax is through the roof. I thought that Minnesota property taxes were bad. They aren't when one looks at the actual percentage rate. Of course, my home town and county have some of the highest property tax throughout the state. I just may make the move across the Red River, into Oklahoma.

The Marines have a way of taking care of their own; particularly when they misbehave.
It is taught at a very young age. When we were recruits at Parris Island we had a Puerto Rican kid from NY named Kramer.....his nickname very quickly became "scuzz", for good reason. Well he cost us big time in an inspection. That night after the lights went out, I heard rumors that several folks took him into the shower and took their metal scrub brushes to him and cleaned him up. As the saying went, "scuzzy wuzzy ain't scuzzy no mo!" Kinda the way things work for the good of everyone. If the Corps had a shot at Murtha, my guess is he would be really sorry for all the lies he has told along the way.
I do not know a soul who has any respect for the man. He better not ask for a military funeral, particularly with a Marine color guard because they may be very few voulnteers. If he stands tall for a 21 gun salute he better be careful, they are not likely to miss........
