I have not been water-boarded, but I am familiar with the procedure.

Prior to being wounded in the A Shau and getting my ticket punched for Walter Reed AMC, I had been recommended for Airborne Pathfinder training which would have entailed undergoing the SERE course. Naturally, I became quite familiar with what I could expect to face, and based on what I know about the procedure, I can guaran-****ing-tee that if you give me Dick Cheney, Sean Hannity, a wash cloth, five gallons of water and 30 minutes; I will have BOTH of those bastards admit to kidnapping the Lindbergh baby, the Kennedy assassination, and fathering Octomom's kids.

It is torture, plain and simple.

You guys don't get it, do you? (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x8404677)

I can only speak for myself, but I assume that some here would raise a glass to this:

The issue is not whether waterboarding is torture. It IS torture. And I support its use on our enemies 100%, all the time, every time. I support any method of information extraction from enemies captured on the battlefield, period, paragraph, end of story.

Does that clarify things for you lurkers?

Waterboarding, as performed in training given to military personell, is, by nature of that training, WITHIN THE GENEVA CONVENTION.  A basic tenet of the GC is that you cannot do unto your prisoners what you would not do unto your own.  Our troops live in air conditioned tents, they get A/C tents, our troops get 3 hot meals a day, they get 3 hots a day, our get medical care, they get medical care, ad infinitum.

Hell, it only took 15 sec for Hitchens to tell them where Jimmy Hoffa was buried.   :lmao:
