Why do Republicans like to stress that they are the "party of Lincoln"?
Edited on Wed May-13-09 08:58 AM by Postman
Abiding by today's Republican Party standards, it is my belief that Lincoln wouldn't be welcome. In fact, a case could be made that Lincoln was a liberal. So why do Republicans lay claim to Lincoln as one of their greatest Presidents?
Do you think Lincoln was liberal, conservative or a mishmash of both?

And which party stuffs people into pigeonholes to be told what their education, job, political affiliation and social benefits will be based solely on race?

Which political party still whispers in the ears of minorities, "You can't make it on your own. They hate you, they'll never give you a job, or they'll work you to death and then fire you first. You need us. You need our handouts. You need our help to get into college. You need our support, so vote Democrat. Vote early, and vote often. You can't make it without us, and you know it." The Dims haven't taken one step away from slavery, they're just keeping The Plantation on a different basis these days.
