Ouch.
George Steinbrenner isn't getting any younger, his days are lessening, and so one thinks his team should try harder to win as many games as possible, so as to honor the old man.
Damn.
Toronto 5, New York Yankees 1
TORONTO, May 12 (UPI) -- Roy Halladay pitched his first complete game of the year Tuesday to help the Toronto Blue Jays post a 5-1 win over the New York Yankees.
Halladay (7-1) gave up the one run on five hits while striking out five with no walks for his league-leading seventh victory.
A.J. Burnett (2-1) -- who played for Toronto for the last three seasons before signing with New York this past off-season -- gave up three runs in the fourth inning. Burnett allowed five runs on seven hits and four walks in 7 2/3 innings.
Scott Rolen was 3-for-4 with three RBI for the Blue Jays, who won for the eighth time in their last 11 games. Aaron Hill had a solo homer and Rod Barajas drove in the other Toronto run.
Alex Rodriguez drove in the lone run for the Yankees, who have lost seven of their last nine games.....
Come on, guys; do it for one of America's heroes.
-
Coach, Roy Halliday is the best pitcher in the AL at the very least, and arguably the best pitcher in the game of baseball today. They turned it around with Andy Pettitte last night, who is probably the #2 of the Yankees' staff (though pitching as the #4 or #5).
-
They are giving Steinbrenner exactly what he deserves. :-)
-
Ah, the sweet taste of victory, eh FL?

Yep--right in your asses.

There were more Red Sox fans there than Angel fans. Pathetic.

Oh, you were there and counted? Try again.
ETA: Then again, it wouldn't surprise me. Angels fans have JOBS and LIVES and can't be torn away to a noon ballgame.

No I actually watched the game and saw them.
-
Yeah that's it -- noon game. :lmao:

I saw more Angels gear than washed out-washed up Papi/Manny/douchenozzle Boston gear. Tell ya what--find a screencap--ANY screencap--that shows more Sox fans than Angels fans, and I'll bow out gracefully.
Until then, you're just another RSN homer who couldn't get past the counting they did on Sesame Street.
ETA: I'll send you a picture of my boss wearing MY (yes, MY) Angels jersey tomorrow...complete with his flipping me off, no doubt.
Edited--not nice enough. But I still got to run my smack while I can.
-
For the record, official attendance today:
35,124.
Last Thursday's home game against Toronto.
TORONTO.
41,007.
Oh, the illusion that is Red Sucks Nation.

Uh, Abreau wiping out in right field? That would be the Red Sox fans in the front rows yelling "fair ball, fair ball." So freakin funny I watched it twice.

Oooh, I am sooo impressed. I had no idea.
Wait..... isn't the seating capacity 45K and some change??
(:lmao:)

43K. And what's the capacity of Fenway? 33K? No wonder they're the most expensive tickets in baseball.

The new Angel Stadium of Anaheim has a seating capacity of approximately 45,050 for the Anaheim Angels.

Fenway Park seating is 39,000 now. Oh yeah, we sell out every damn game.

Try again.
37K, according to Ballparks of Baseball.com, and you have to pull the tarp to do that. And no matter what, EVER, the Sox have stated it will never go above 40K for any reason.
And yet as recently as 10 years ago, your average PERCENTAGE capacity was LESS than that of the Angels, nevermind the Dodgers, Yankees, even the Rockies. Go back 20 years and your average attendance per home game was under 20K.
NOW who's the bandwagoners again?

37 for day games, 39 for night games. How many day games are there again?
Come on Sparky, going against me on this? really?
You want to try again?

Now if you want to talk Patriots attendance at the horrendous Sullivan Stadium, then that I can say yeah -- it was bad during the lean years. My husband had season tickets and couldn't give them away. However baseball here in New England is king, always has been. Always will be. Doesn't matter what their ranking is.
-
And yet in the 80's you couldn't give Sox tickets away either.
And here's my source:

Our attendance was higher than the entire AL average -- context, and come on already. There are no fair weather Red Sox fans in New England.

You might want to look at the historical trend before you say that.

How do they squeeze and extra two grand in for night games?

There's a tarp they have to pull because otherwise the batter can't see the ball during the day.
