Wow. Finally back home and mostly functioning again! Hope everyone had a good Mother's Day!
The girls kicked some serious dance booty at the festival last week...their performance Saturday night was incredible! Had a fun week, they got to take classes with some seriously great instructors. They even got to take a class with Joshua Allen (from So You Think You Can Dance). Too many late nights and early mornings added up to some tired kiddos yesterday...sleeping dancers all over the plane on the way home!
Missed some good ball games while I was away, but Mr Flame kept me updated through texts during most of them, so it wasn't too bad.
Also missed my middle kid's 14th birthday, which really whomped, but I think he had fun, anyway...had a couple friends over for the night, and they played the Wii and watched movies all night and took over the house, not having to worry about mom or sister being there, just the guys!
Today I plan on doing laundry and chilling...tonight is a baseball game. Weather should be ok for it, I hope!

Today is "catch up" day having missed 2 days last week for graduation ceremonies out of town. Missed an important meeting at work where they updated everyone on the status of the company...future layoffs, etc. Hoping I don't get bad news in that dept.
More rain today, but it's supposed to be sunny tomorrow. That'll be a nice change.

I'm busy today.
I'll be back later.

Sunny, windy, and cool. High of 62 today. Ran out of time yesterday to plant stuff.
Back on 8-hour schedule with OT pretty much anytime we want it. However, given my weekend (short), I'll hold off for a day or two.

I am finally feeling like I have a bit of breathing room.
It was a helluva last week. :p
We took my wife out for a really nice Mother's Day brunch yesterday at the Capitol Chop House in Madison. Weekend was great. I got two days off of the exercise mill. Back to the health club today after a Cardiology appointment this morning.
I have to pick up a metering kit from the pharmacist today and learn how to test my blood sugar.
It kind of sucks because my life used to revolve around the ****ing cigarettes and now my life is sorta revolving around the diabetes. Not that I would trade them right now. The diabetes was a blessing in disguise. There is no going back on the quitting of the cigs and the decision to live a healthy lifestyle. Just can't be. Kind of like that Spanish fellow who burned his expedition's ships after reaching the New World. They were singularly motivated to succeed. :-)
Forward momentum.

A sunny mid-70's day is expected today, so I'm trying to get to work as early as possible so that I can enjoy the sunshine this evening :-) Still plenty of work and no overtime allowed, but I was very productive on Friday, so today should start off well. Parish Counsel meeting tonight at church.

Good news, bad news....my job is safe...for now. For 22 of my co-workers, bad news. They're on the list and if things don't improve in the next couple of weeks, they go bye-bye. Most of 'em are really good folks. There are no companies in this field that are hiring...anywhere. That's some major suckage right now.

It's rainy again today....like that's a surprise :whatever:. However, the weather prognosticator is predicting sunshine tomorrow!! It will be a surprise if it comes true... :lmao:
Trying to get 4 more reports done today...already did one. I'm not particularly motivated....too much a reflection of the economy.
Have a showing on one of my houses today, and a buyer lurking at one that is still under renovation. arghhhhh. The husband half of my client pair is BS'ing with the guy according to the wife half who has called threatening either murder or divorce if he doesn't stop talking to the buyer! It's funny, but it isn't, because this guy has been there 2x's already, the first without his agent, yet I will be expected to pay her half my commission. Told her she needs to get her buyer under control....that's working well... :uhsure:
It should be a rule that if Monday is rainy...that it's cancelled due to lack of interest.....

You have a case of anal glaucoma today? :-)

Reminds me of one of my favorite lines from Office Space:
Peter Gibbons: Let me ask you something. When you come in on Monday, and you're not feelin' real well, does anyone ever say to you, 'Sounds like someone has a case of the Mondays'?
Lawrence: No. No, man. Shit, no, man. I believe you'd get your ass kicked sayin' something like that, man.
Pretty much says it all right there.

I am enjoying my second week of unemployment. I have a really cool severance package, and I have the kids here for six weeks this summer, so I am not pushing that hard on a new job yet. I have some strings in the water, but they are not too ambitious.
I do volunteer at the zoo. I was there Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Friday they had Tusko, the male on breeding loan in with the girls, and Rose-Tu and her son Samudra in the indoor viewing. He is over 1000lbs now, just since august.
I spent most of Yesterday redirecting folks who were looking for the Hippos and the Giraffes, because the usual path to them is closed off. They had to go the long way around.
They are doing lots of construction right now. They are rebuilding the exhibit for the Gibbons and the Orangs, which they will put in together. It is going to be really cool when they get done, but right now it is at that middle stage where it looks like pick up time after a hurricane.
They are also working on a new Predators exhibit. We are going to get a lion and a cheetah. The zoo is looking forward to it. The zoo hasn't had a lion since the Carter misadministration.

Yesterday was 85 and sunny and gorgeous. Today? 55, wet and windy. WTH?? :-)
And yeah, it's Monday all darn day too.

It's not difficult. Just make sure you use a sharp lancet and for some it's often hard to prick the finger tips due to calloused hands.
I've tested my own before and I don't really care for blood.
