Hmmm.

I used to not think so, but after eight years of watching Republicans in power, and Democrats in power, I'm evolving into a hard-liner.

Quote
Dick Cheney did an interview today with Scott Hennen, a North Dakota radio host, whose staff sent over a transcript (after the jump), defending the Bush administration and advising the Republican Party to stay with its roots.

“I think it would be a mistake for us to moderate," Cheney said. "This is about fundamental beliefs and values and ideas … what the role of government should be in our society, and our commitment to the Constitution and constitutional principles. You know, when you add all those things up, the idea that we ought to moderate basically means we ought to fundamentally change our philosophy. I for one am not prepared to do that, and I think most of us aren’t. Most Republicans have a pretty good idea of values, and aren’t eager to have someone come along and say, 'Well, the only way you can win is if you start to act more like a Democrat.'"

Cheney did, however, say it was probably time for his fellow Republicans to shove him off the stage.

"I think periodically we have to go through one these sessions. It helps clear away some of the underbrush ... some of the older folks who’ve been around a long time — like yours truly — need to move on and make room for that young talent that’s coming along," he said.....

And on the other side of that equation, we have - yet another - Bush (Jeb this time) going on a non-listening, listening tour with the GREAT MODERATES OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY (  :banghead: :bawl: :banghead: :bawl: :thatsright: ).

As if the voices of 600,000 pissed off Americans at tea parties April 15th was hard to ****in' hear...

Oh wait; I guess it is if YOUR HEAD IS THAT FAR UP YOUR *******ED ASS!!!!!!!

And people wonder why, when I take the political tests these days, I test in the Libertarian to damned near Anarchist percentiles now.

I'm not prepared to change my fundamental beliefs either. I just wish the party was listening to me.

They may not listen to me, but they listen to the sound of my checkbook--or rather, the sound of it closing.

I made the serious mistake of supporting the McCain campaign. While I am not a Republican and will never subscribe to that party (they're simply not conservative enough on fiscal issues), like most people here on CC, I just couldn't sit back and let His Holiness ascend to The Throne without a fight.

Well, those ****tards assumed that I'd signed onto the party itself. And I'm bombarded with every *******ed plea, request, and hand-wringing tearful appeal known to mankind. They send letters, they call, and they do everything but grab me around the throat.

And I'm tired of that bullshit.

The Republican party will not get a cent from me. EVAH.

He's right, moderation is for the birds.  The Dems wet their finger and hold it up to the wind to see what they're suppose to believe for that day.  They have no foundation.  Some are calling for the Republicans to do the same thing but to just do it smarter.  If people want to vote for a party that's unstable, they'll go for the original and vote Dem.  Some party needs to build its foundation on a rock.  People prefer other people who aren't one thing one day and another thing the next.  This is the ground the Republicans need to reclaim.

I wrote Steele several times.  My motto is that they need to start listening.  Until they do my checkbook is closed and my mouth is open.
