16 Year Old Homeschooler Hauled Away Under PATRIOT Act

Sixteen-year-old Ashton Lundeby's bedroom in his mother's Granville County home is nothing, if not patriotic. Images of American flags are everywhere on the bed, on the floor, on the wall.
But according to the United States government, the tenth-grade home-schooler is being held on a criminal complaint that he made a bomb threat from his home on the night of Feb. 15.

This is what it's come to. Every person in the USA should see this. Your rights can be gone in a heartbeat. I don't know what that kid did or said. However, I would like to know what is so heinous that he can't be tried under other laws.
That would be Barry Obama's government that used Patriot to haul this kid off. I'm not sure why the fact that he's homeschooled matters, other than the press hates homeschooling, and DU doesn't think much of it, either.
Yes, OP, your rights CAN be taken away in one second. By Barry Obama, no less. You see, in order to have bombings endorsed bythe Messiah, you have to actually kill someone he hates. See Ayers, William.
You'd think DU would be squawking about this, since repealing the Patriot Act was their goal since John Kerry helped write it in 2001. Well..

2. I'm confused...
What do think is the correct response for calling a bomb threat? The patriot act is existing law btw.
Now that Barry can wield it, the Patriot Act is suddenly just fine.Wow.

10. We have only the mom's word that there is not due process. Not good enough for me.
Nothing against the mom, but she is not exactly an unbiased source of information. The only lawyer commenting was someone unconnected with the case. There is a gag order - not unusual for a case involving a minor - so reliable information is not going to be available to the public.
But when death row inmates declare their innocence, it's as good as DNA evidence to DU.
Hypocritical bastards, all of them.

A woman can dance naked for money....she can have the brains sucked out of a baby and it's all covered in the 1st amendment as her right of free expression. And DUmmies are always talking about how you should allow kids to express themselves but if a kid wants to express himself by calling in a bomb threat, oh whoa is me.
Sometimes, it's just fun to think like a DUmmie. It requires very little effort, burns no calories, accomplishes nothing and is easy on the one brain cell required to do it.

This happened two months ago, the feds have had plenty of time to scour the hard drives on the computer and the game system. They should have either evidence confirming that the boy did this or exculpatory evidence. The article also doesn't state to what the threat was made. I heard of dozens of bomb threats made by teens to schools and they were treated as criminals, not terrorists.

Well what do you expect from a group of people who spew politically correct nonsense pretending they care about human rights while using the same logic to killing unborn babies as was used to declare Dred Scott not quite human. Human rights are a wonderful thing when you can make them into anything you want them to be.

I think the utter lack of sympathy from DU boils down to one thing: Homeschooling.
Homeschooling means the child was not indoctrinated by liberals and thinks independently. Primitives cannot have that.
Liberals hate any thought that doesn't derive from group-think. They prefer that a child be ignorant than think things they haven't told him to think. That's why we're facing a vaguely worded hate crimes bill. Liberal judges can declare any thought-even conservative opinion to hateful.
The days are going to get darker before the people have had enough.

I think thats the point of the article - to bash homeschooling -- That homeschooling allows for indoctrination that may contradict the liberal public-school variety, and therefore needs to stop.

Ashton was then taken to a juvenile facility in South Bend, Ind., charged with making a bomb threat in Indiana from his home computer.

There is a contingent of homeschoolers over there. Most liberal homeschoolers are unschoolers, though. While their reasons for choosing homeschooling may be different than more conservative homeschoolers they aren't impressed with the public schools either. Mostly they're against Christian homeschoolers. I know this because my BIL is a raving moonbat and has practically screamed in my face that I indoctrinated my son.
