Holy Moly! My 6-Year-Old's Elementary School Has Just Been Closed Due To Swine Flu!
Just got an e-mail... one of the kids tested positive, so the school's going to be closed for 7 days.
It is a pretty small school; 800 students (K-6).
Luckily, AzKid is healthy as a proverbial horse...
Very weird and scary!
Not nowhere near as weird and scary as the primitives on Skins's island, though.

4. It's turning into hysteria. Really.
At lunch today I spoke with a couple of colleagues whose kids [sic] school was shut down because two kids had -- listen closely -- returned home from Mexico last weekend, yet had not even been back to school because they were sick. The kids came home from a Mexico vacation, became ill almost immediately, so saw no one and hadn't been back to school yet. But their school closed down because two students might have swine flu.
Point being...use common sense. This thing is getting just plain nutty. (BTW, I also live in a very small town with very small schools).

11. Are they still paying the teachers?
I'm willing to bet a lot of these closures are just excuses to cut spending.

24. The teachers I know get a lot of sick days each year so they would get paid.

Leave it to Prawn to say the dumbest thing on the thread.

And if they didn't close the schools and this turned into the Spanish Flu Part II, they'd be bitching about that.
Lose/lose with these DUmbasses.
