Title: Favre Watch - 2009 Edition (not this sh** again)
Post by: Ralph Wiggum on April 30, 2009, 10:16:12 AM
Heard on the Dan Patrick radio show this morning that Favre may be angling to sign a free agent contract with the Vikings. :whatever: :whatever:

Not to worry, there are several sites that are monitoring this crap so you & I don't have to.

Flight From Minneapolis Goes To Hattiesburg
30th April, 2009 - 9:28 am

ProFootballTalk.com - The crafty folks at ProFootballTalk.com are monitoring the flights that come in and out of Hattiesburg-Laurel airport, which is famously home to Brett Favre.

A flight from Minneapolis arrived at 9:11 AM on Wednesday and a departing flight took off at 4:14 PM on the same day.

Favre was released by the Jets this week, which has fueled speculation that he will come out of retirement and sign with the Vikings.

Apparently Favre can't stand the GM with the Packers and will do anything he can to "stick it" to him.

Developing.... :whatever: :-)

He wanted to sign with them last season, but, the Packers 86ed that deal. He'd love to run Thompson out of Green Bay by beating them with one of their most bitter rivals.

I think I'll pass.  This "drama" is so last year.  There's too much going on with the new baseball season and the NHL/NBA playoffs to think about football.

Some King Air landed in Hattiesburg just over 2 hours ago from Cobb Co. (Atlanta).  Maybe he's going back to the Falcons.

(Yes, I'm just goofing around)

I'd be cool with Favre on my Seahawks as long as he played backup to Hass. (bit of a role reversal but that's life)

I really just want any good #2 vet to free up Seneca Wallace to go full time WR and part time wildcat RB.

I'm one of the biggest Green Bay Packers fan and fan of Brett Favre.

Brett, don't do it.   Go mow grass like Forrest Gump.   Do something bro.

Hang it up.   Period.

He really should have just jumped at the chance to nail Cameron Diaz and left it at that.

Go away, Brett Fav-ruh.

Yeah, his skills are diminished. Why should he embarrass himself? If he plays for the Vikings, he probably won't start. If he does, he will actually lose to Green Bay, I think, and where then is his vengeance?

But these guys never know when to quit. Remember how Joe Montana left the league? And you can think of other examples. Pitiful.

At least Montana led the Chiefs to a couple of playoff runs.  I don't recall him embarrassing himself as Favre seems to be doing now.  Maybe Favre just wants to put the career interceptions record WAY out of reach. :-)

I seem to recall that he's a spokesman for the NRA, too.

I still say I'd take him as a backup. (if his ego could handle that sort of move)

Otherwise you guys are right. This shite has....

Maybe we will get to see Favre blubber like a baby again when he announces his second retirement.  :(

FAVRE IS BACK (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4406963) :whatever: :whatever:

A source close to Brett Favre said the quarterback, pending a physical, will sign a contract with the Minnesota Vikings for between $10 million to $12 million, according to ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen.

Vikings coach Brad Childress confirmed in an e-mail to The Associated Press Tuesday morning that Favre was traveling from Mississippi to meet with the team.

Asked if the plan was to sign Favre on Tuesday, Childress replied: "In a perfect world."

Favre, a longtime star in Green Bay, came out of retirement last season to play for the Jets. He retired again, only to then entertain the idea of joining the Vikings. Last month, Childress said the quarterback would stay retired.

The pronouncement now appears to be premature.

According to Mortensen, the Vikings had sent their private plane to Hattiesburg, Miss., and left with Favre on it at 10 a.m. ET. The plane is expected to land in Minneapolis at about noon ET; Favre is expected to take a physical later Tuesday.

Two television stations reported that Favre was seen boarding a plane Tuesday morning that was headed to Minneapolis.

Sources told Hattiesburg television station WDAM, which initially broke the story, that Favre had said: "We may know something by dinner."

A high-level source first told Minneapolis TV station WCCO that Favre was expected to sign a deal with the Vikings on Tuesday.

Well, this will either be a repeat of Elway's last years or it will be ugly.

I love Favre but this is so bizarre.    Dude just can't let it go.
