It's very odd.

Richboy playboy Pedro started this bonfire about 24 hours ago, and no primitive noticed it.

The only thing to fear is the GOP itself

Seem like a victory bonfire here today. In spite of the ever present DUum-sayers, there are a lot of happy DUers, and that is a good thing. There are a lot of happy (or happy-er) Americans.

There are a lot of unhappy Americans, too.

Arlen Specter is an unhappy American. As would most of us, Arlen Specter is looking out for Number 1 -- himself and his family. Most on this board would probably consider looking out for Number 1 a particularly Republican trait, but I'm not talking about Number 1 ahead of every other consideration. Specter sees this, too.

Specter is not unlike Mortimer Duke in the iconic film "Trading Places." He does what he has to do to oil the wheels of his gravy train, life on Capitol Hill. When confronted with epic failure, Duke cried for the legacy of his seat on the NYSE. Specter, too, is looking out for the legacy of his seat, feeling his place in history getting sucked down the soil pipe with that of Cheney and Bush. So he makes the most transparent political leap in political-leaping history, even giving press conferences with obvious underlying tones of "Look, we both know this is all bullshit."

He's an opportunist of the highest order. But isn't that just another Republican trait? Profit from the misery of others?

Par for Specter's course.

When these people are backed into a corner, watch out. Consider what Dick "Dick" Cheney did just to push up the value of Halliburton stock. When bad people are backed into a corner, they become worse people. The GOP is seeing its stock value decline faster than General Motors (ironically enough). Be careful. They're capable of anything when they feel cornered.

Alas! poor richboy playboy Pedro! alas! all alone at the bonfire! alas!

Have the DUmmies changed that old meme, "Vote in ones own self interest"? When have they not looked out for #1?

Pedro actually makes some valid observations about the feckless Arlen Sphincter, and then like the true DUmmie that he is, proceeds to draw conclusions which are 180 degrees out of phase with reality.

The party of craven power lust and utter lack of principle is the 'Rats that he so loves.  Sphincter will make a fine addition to that bilious stew.

That's our friend richboy playboy Pedro, that's exactly him.

It would be extraordinary if he didn't.

He must have contracted some sort of STD on his SE Asian pedo tour and it's eating away at what little mind he has.

Pedro just described the typical Dem/lib politician and what the primitives have been doing for the last 8 years, but alas he's too stupid to realize it......... again.

It's not just Dem/lib pols. You can add any non-genuine conservative. Unlike liberals and the portion of the public that is informed solely by headlines or a day's news compressed to 22.5 minutes conservatives have standards. That is why that same self-serving, unprincipled, "bipartisan" BS attitude cost the GOP the 2006 and 2008 elections.

Tough to hear sometimes, but true.

The entertaonong thing is now we get to find out where Snarlin Arlen's heart really is.  If he believes his own press releases he will piss off the Democrats more than 50% of the time.
