At first it was reported that President Barack Obama wasn't even aware of the nationwide Tea Party protests that occurred on April 15. But now he's out criticizing them and the Fox News Channel.
In a town hall meeting in St. Louis on April 29, Obama was asked about fiscal discipline and entitlement reform. In his response, he took a shot at the Fox News Channel and the tea party movement, insisting he's "happy to have a serious conversation" with them.
"So, when you see - those of you who are watching certain news channels that on which I'm not very popular and you see folks waving tea bags around, let me just remind them that I am happy to have a serious conversation about how we are going to cut our health care costs down over the long term, how we are going to stabilize Social Security," Obama said.

By his acknowledging Tea Parties, I think I'll sign up for the Sept 12 Fest :naughty:
Looks like fun too:

I guess no one was at the Tea Parties except the bitter have-nots that cling to guns and religion. ::)

Yes all of us "little people" that are constantly interfering with his quest for a Socialist utopia.

Sounds like somebody is getting annoyed -- boo-freakin'-hoo.

President Thin-Skinned just can't take the heat. Are we going to have to listen to this for the rest of his term?
"Waaah, mommy! The other kids don't like me!" :bawl:

Yeah we are.
He's playing it straight from the book Rules for Radicals.

I don't remember President Bush whining like this ever, not even during the TANG made-up document scam by CBS. I do remember Bill Clinton whining like this though.
If President Bush had whined like this it would have been 24/7 for 8 years.
-
Happy to have a serious discussion? Thousands of people took the day off to attend these parties....what makes him think people aren't serious? People against his trillion dollar spending spree is serious. What a pompous, narcissistic jerk.
In other words, he did not take any of it seriously...I'm surprised he didn't echo the teabagging comments from Rachel Madcow and Keif Overbite. When will he believe we're serious...2010 midterm election?
-
I have to wonder if 0Bama isn't aware of the polls and ratings about the cable news companies that have come out this week. His attack towards FNC without naming them is childish, but no less than what I'd expect from him. He seems to have this need to use his bully pulpit against those who he dislikes.

I don't ever recall President Bush whining.. but I'm with O'Reilly in believing President Bush and Dick Cheney didn't do enough to defend themselves either.. course Cheny's mouthing off now to the displeasure of el DUmmie in charge.
-
He'll attack anyone that disagrees with him.

You wont get an argument from me there. I don't think Bush even had to defend his policies, he just needed to keep educating people. But there seemed to be months at a time when we heard little from the president himself.
-
Remember when Bush Sr. told the media to stop attacking GW? The DUmmies tore him apart.

I wish we could be blessed again. I don't know what it is with democrat presidents. Clinton too thought he had to comment on every minute issue every day. I remember thinking Clinton had to be incredibly insecure in his intellect.

Hi,
Well said about his attitude. The only serious discussion he wants to have is where he does all the talking and finger pointing. The thought of having to put up with his crap for four years is nauseating. What an absolute pompous idiot! :practicepreach:

Fox News beat CNN and MSNBC combined in every hour from 6amET to MidnightET in both Total Viewers and the 25-54 demo for April 2009. FNC had the top 11 cable news programs in Total Viewers and 12 of the top 15 in the demo. FNC is the #2 network in Total Viewers on all of cable.
From 9amET on, every program grew by more than 60% in the demo. The 5pmET hour, now occupied by Glenn Beck, is up 212% in the demo and up 128% in Total Viewers. Fox & Friends has now been #1 for 90 consecutive months, Studio B with Shepard Smith for 80 consecutive months.

Dennis Miller had a good comment on Bill O'Reilly last night. Obama smiles and sucks up to South American tyrants while they insult the USA, and he can bow to the Saudi king, but he can't pass up the opportunity to deliver a cheap shot to Fox News and the ordinary citizens who participated in the tea parties. These were real people with real grievances, and they love their country, yet Obama gives them nothing but a gratuitous and insulting dismissal. That says as much about Obama as anything else he has done in the last 100 days. And it is not pretty.
-
Also, Bill O'Reilly had an interesting insight. He said that Obama is accustomed to all the people around him agreeing with him and liking everything he does. As a result, he has a thin skin. In this respect, as well as in many others, he is the opposite of Bush. Whatever you may think about either Bush I or Bush II, they were always consummate professionals, even when they were unfairly criticized. They seemed to know that criticism just came with the job, and they accepted it as part of it.
The reason Bush did not respond to his critics more forcefully was because he just did not care about criticism that much. It really did not bother him at all. He just smiled, and went on with what was best for the country. In the long run, that tendency hurt him and his agenda. But, again, I admire his professionalism.
-
This is a serious tactical mistake on Obama's part, there are good reasons why his predecessors in both parties have avoided going head to head with the dissatisfied. The wiser course is to stick to positive terms about your own program and avoid mention of particular critics or specific protest actions by the unhappy. The few times those in or near high office have departed from this - Spiro Agnew with his "Effete snobs" and Hillary with her "VRWC" - they have only elevated the status of the opposition and lost stature themselves.
-
Yes, this was a mistake to so casually wave this off. I thought it was hilarious on that day for the WH to say that 0 was unaware of the tea parties. He's just pissed off a whole lot of people.
-
I thought it was hilarious on that day for the WH to say that 0 was unaware of the tea parties.
Gee, another Dim liar in the WH, I'm so surprised. :whatever:
-
I guess as the leader of the defeatocrat party he either doesn't care or doesn't realize that a good number of democrats are running for re-election next year and his arrogance and demeaning attitude towards those who participated in the TEA parties from coast-to-coast could very well result in the dems possibly losing control of the house and senate next year.
Boy wouldn't that be a kick in his teeth? Should the republicans regain control of the house and senate all of his DREAMS for spending oodles and oodles of money from 2011 on would go up in smoke.
-
...let me just remind them that I am happy to have a serious conversation about how we are going to cut our health care costs down over the long term...
That's one steaming pile right there. 1 - He doesn't do serious converstations. He has to have scripted statements from Telly Prompter.
2. He ain't happy...he got snubbed by Fox. 3 - Healthcare costs will skyrocket....but he will call it a cut because he'll be spending billions of tax dollars to "fix" it.
:bs:

His definition of a "Serious conversation" is agreeing with him, and possibly offering helpful suggestions about how to do what he wants faster.

If You Attended a Tea Party and You Think You're Not Now Being Watched, Think Again (http://www.redstate.com/jorgie714/2009/04/26/if-you-attended-a-tea-party-and-you-think-your-not-now-being-watched-think-again/)
"The Department of Homeland Security has a corporate IP address of 216.81.80.134 and is located in Springfield, Virginia—area code 703. The coordinates of this location are latitude 38.7438, longitude -77.2333. How do I know this? Well, let me give you a little background information and then we’ll connect the dots.
I have a web site I use to sell a product that I invented and patented. The product is basically an educational tool. My biggest market is college students enrolled in a technical or engineering program. I also sell this product through an association of college bookstores. As an educational tool, my product is totally 100% guaranteed harmless. If you Google my name and the words “graph paperâ€, you’ll find my web site.
On April 15th I attended the Council Bluffs, IA “Tea Party†Tax Day protest. I emailed the event organizer the day before that I would be attending the “Tea Partyâ€, along with several fellow co-workers. I got the organizers name and email address through the website theglennbeck912project.com. I was a little hesitant to go at first since I’m not one for protesting, but in the final analysis it was a wonderful experience.
Enough with the background, now let’s connect the dots. On April 18th, two days after the tea party protests, I was checking traffic on my website. I always do reverse IP traces on major hits to see where they are originating so I can evaluate the effectiveness of my marketing strategy. As I checked one particular large hit, I was stunned to see the following on my screen,
Hostname: 216.81.80.134
ISP: Department of Homeland Security
Organization: Department of Homeland Security

Country: United States
State/Region: VA

I posted a question about this IP address down in the computer question forum.

Obama is sounding a bit like Nixon. He is doing what a king does. FOX News and Tea Parties are American as they get. Okay, FOX News is owned by an Australian named Rupert Murdoch. Also, the idea of Dems controlling the Congress and President is not a good thing. What happened to checks and balances?
-
His definition of a "Serious conversation" is agreeing with him, and possibly offering helpful suggestions about how to do what he wants faster.
Amazing! That's also his definition of 'bipartisanship'. :whatever:
-
It would make great television for Obama to actually have a news conference with the "little people".......no teleprompter, no David Axelrod writing the answers for him, no media fawning over him,.........just plain, simple, gun toting, bible reading people. The questions, and more importantly, the followup questions would eat his lunch. Contestants from America Idol face greater scrutiny and have to run for re-election every week than the Messiah faces. :-)
-
FWIW, all the networks carried Zero's speech, EXCEPT Fox.
The program running opposite Zero, right before "American Idol", was "Lie To Me"....
Fox scored a double last night for that one....
-
Do we know the ratings for FOX last night?
Dick Morris was on O'Reilly last night and said the networks only agreed to air TWO Clinton press conferences in his ENTIRE PRESIDENCY. (not including state of the union addresses).
Meanwhile Nobama gets 3 within his first 100 days...Media Bias...Nahhhhhh! :whatever:

I don't have the link handy, but Fox's "Lie to me" had higher ratings than "OBama Lies To America" that ran on the other networks. Now by that, I don't mean combined ratings, just comparing Fox to each of the others individually.

James Hibberd is reporting that between broadcast and cable the Obama press conference averaged 28.8 million viewers, a 29% drop from his last press conference. Fox News had the most viewers (more than CBS, ABC or NBC). Here is the information for the cable news networks.

I hear tell around 225 million adult Americans did not watch The Magic Negro Show last night.

Even America's Next Top Model beat the conference! Now that's got to sting a little bit. :rotf:
-
Wednesday night’s primetime press conference to mark Barack Obama’s 100th day in office was viewed by 28.8 million people, according to Nielsen.
That’s a 29% drop from the president’s last press conference, on March 24.
Obama lost 21 million viewers from his first prime-time presser in February, according to James Hibberd...

Sadly true, they are all-too-easily seduced by the 'Power to do good things' once they have the purse-strings.

Jesus, if "real people" would talk to "Teh Wun", they'd tell him to reach down and find his pair. He's whined about Rush, FNC, and the Tea Parties all in the course of the past few months. I don't seem to recall Bush whining about how the MSM or the left treated him.

Hi,
I agree with you and hope he continues to do so. I feel he energized a whole lot of people. We need to stay this way and fight harder to the next election an thereafter. The more he insults the intelligence of the conservatives, who knew damn well he knew all about the tea parties, the stronger we will become.
I do not think it was any surprise when, not ten days later we started to see articles about upheaval in the Republican party. We need to continue to direct that anger to the Republican committee and our representatives as well, they need to be lock step in line with real conservatism.
And I say this to Senator Specter, "On the way out, don't let the door hit ya, where the good Lord split ya!"
Once we get our own house in order, then we can take that energy to the next election cycle.
Not only does BO come off to me as insulting our intelligence (which is arrogance), and thin skinned as some others have mentioned, he also comes off as petty. As he attempts to punish those who criticize him, he will find all that does in energize us even more.
BO would have been smarter if he said nothing, or just acknowledged that the folks of America have many good concerns and leave it be.....glad he choose to do what he did.
Just reinforces what an idiot he really is.

Hi Thundley,
Wow, that was powerful.
Be prepared for a "random audit" from the IRS. Nothing political but my guess is a lot of the protesters will, just though the luck of the random draw, find themselves audited in the near future. Hell, Paula Jones took the standard deduction, did not itemize, and she was randomnly audited three years in a row......but Clinton had nothing to do with it of course.
