I just realized that it's the end of the month and their prescriptions are out.

YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE THIS!
I was feeling a bit run down due to a death in the family and lots of travel over the last week and shared with my mom in a short email last night that I had "a fever and shivers". She called this morning to say that my email to her had a
RED FLAG next to it with the words THIS MESSAGE IS BEING MONITORED.
Can you believe it?! I guess there is no attempt to even pretend that they are not monitoring our EVERY WORD. What other freedoms will we lose with this new "pandemic"?
To be fair most of the replies are along the lines of "You're right, I don't believe this" but it's funny anyway.

22. the email provider
is Fairpoint
My mom forwarded the message but the red in the subject matter did not show up in my email. When I called my mom a little bit ago she said the words shivers and fever were ALSO in red in my email to her.

16. I just called my mom to get the message forwarded...
I just called my mom to have her forward the message to me and she said that the line was in red at the top and it is now gone. It only showed when she opened my email the first time. It was a message in red that said "This message is being monitored". However, the subject line of my email is still in red.
This is my mom's home email address and she does not have AOL and she has never had this happen before.
Maybe someone out here could try sending a message with such words and see what happens.
I have no reason to be making this up. I am stunned!

19. OK. I think I have it.
In Outlook, you can flag an email to be "watched." If you do that, "This message is being watched" appears, along with a flag.
AOL may well have something like that as a "feature." Mom probably clicked something without realizing it and set a flag on the email that would help HER watch it. I don't use AOL, and haven't for about 127 years, so I'm not sure what's in their email window.
I think I'd not worry overmuch about this. Moms make lots of computer mistakes. Mine does. My wife's mom, too. We're forever getting calls about something wierd in her email.

25. The words SHIVERS and FEVER
were ALSO in red. That wouldn't happen if you accidentally clicked to flag a message...

37. Well, maybe it's part of the NSA/HHS pandemic plan
Maybe they're just doing email recipients a favor by highlighting in red, those emails from people who may be sick, so they know who to avoid? I mean, your mom now knows to not invite you over for dinner.
I mean, since they have all the monitoring equipment in place, it'd be trivial for them to do this.
(only half tongue-in-cheek)
Yes it's a public service announcement.
OMG this line is in RED! We're being WATCHED!
-
You're right. I don't believe it.
-
The DUmmies mom is most likely a DUmmie, too, and set her email provider to "flag" e-mails from her "spooky" child and that is where the flag and monitoring line came from. Paranoia is so much fun for other people.

Do the idiots think swine flu is a computer virus spread to humans?
-
If Bush monitored e-mails from terrorist, it was a violation of the DUmmies constitutional rights.....but if Obowma monitors his e-mails to his Mom, he's doing him a favor.....gotcha.
DUmmie world is sdrawkcab.

Well they do have a few days before they get their refills. Give it time, I'm sure someone is working on it.

These idiots would happily believe anything and everything to issue forth from the mouth of Teh Obamessiah or any of his minions - including whoever is currently occupying the Jocelyn Elders chair at the US Centers for Desease Control.
I think the latest story to come from the White House Press office is that the swine flu is "something spread in the chem trails by operatives of Teh Booooooosh administration, and lies dormant in the human anus until it's activated by a penis rubbing against it, kinda like a magic lamp" (Sorry for shamelessly stealing that line, but it was too good to resist.)
-

Well, they do wash their hands after opening their e-mail.
-
Well, they do wash their hands after opening their e-mail.
That's just because their e-mail usually originates from "Bubbles", and it usually includes the latest pic goodness for them to "Squeeze the Charmin" to. Washing up afterwards just keeps the keyboard from becoming as crusty and useless as your average DUmmy is.
-
Its like they aren't even trying - I suspect there is a flagged message indicator used, and the underlined words are underlined because there is either spelling mistakes or advertisement tags if they are double underlined.
-
It's too bad a mole couldn't post this over there:

52. Assuming this is real
the authority comes from the declaration of national health emergency
That is where that comes from
ASSUMING this is for real
Public health can and is tricky... and at times people do surrender rights (willfully or not) when we have one

53. That is the only thing that makes sense...
It must have something to do with the current national health emergency.
I have been a member of DU since 2002. I have no reason at all to be coming here to make up a story like this. I must say I am surprised at the amount of sarcasm and insults here today.

Well I would think that being a batshit insane troofer would lead anyone close to rational to be a bit suspect of your mental capacity...but that is just me.

My browser, Firefox 3.1 beta 2 will underline in red misspelled words.

So we have the CIA recruiting 6th graders and the government monitoring little old lady's email? Is this the change they voted for? And how come some of them are willing to give up their freedom because of a few cases of the flu (too bad we didn't monitor our border like Canada does) but think it's a privacy violation to monitor calls from overseas terrorists? If they found out the terrorists released this strain of swine flu would it finally be okay to monitor them or would we just pass out antibiotics and close the NSA so as not to intrude on their privacy rights? I'm just confused over what I'm supposed to be outraged over...well, except retiring military, I KNOW they're a threat to my safety because the new Janet Reno says so.

OMG
I can't hardly believe that they seem to buy this whole HHS is monitoring email thing. AND that its OK. That is ludicrusty

Every Breath You Take would be another good mole posting vid. :-)
I think I got Swine Flu from watching Charlotte's Web on HBO last nite.
So, yeah as the always inciteful Delilah said, they have no prob with e-mail monitoring of MawMaws now? But Achmed the Kaboom Artist is off limits? So, they are willing to swallow any BS that the Duh! gang rolls out, and any they make up themselves in the mean time? Okey Dokey then.

That's H5 worthy right there! Almost some coffee on the monitor!

Teh stoopid, it really does burn!

Spooked may be on to something. I got to noticing today that almost every road intersection that I came to had a suspicious sign. It had a RED background with WHITE writing ordering me to "STOP". I figure that they reversed the colors to try to confuse me, but it didn't work. I know it's some sort of conspiracy. How would they
even know that I'd be at those intersections? They had to know because they put those signs up commanding me to stop. They must have been monitoring me. And why use WHITE letters? I bet it was the BFEE letting me know that the man still runs things. Dirty bastards!!!!!
I'm on to them now though. I've got some cardboard that I've cut into octagon shapes, some red magic markers, some chicken wire, and a cinder block. I'll get to the bottom of it all using hard, precise scientific experimentation.

Don't burn yourself before those nice young men in the clean, white coats get there to help you with that experiment.
